If you're reading this review then chances are like myself your dog or dogs are in every way family and there's nothing you won't do to enhance the quality of both their health and lives. Gee it's nice to be among my own kind! A long time fan of Solid Gold they were the first company to introduce an all natural line of dog food sourced from human grade ingredients. Decades ago I started to research commercial dog foods and the more I learned over the years the more appalled I became. Hence, I now make my own and have been tweaking my recipe for years. However, I still use Solid Gold's "Hund - N- Flocken" as an added extra for crunch to my mix. Their line of foods are excellent and their SeaMeal supplement is no exception. In fact it is in my opinion, hands down the best supplement you can give to your best friend. As any architect will tell you - designing something simple is far more difficult then something complex and this truth is one of the key benefits of SeaMeal. Instead of throwing everything into the mix via shotgun, the choice of ingredients albeit slim compared to other products is quite brilliant in it's simplicity and even more so in it's benefit rich formulation. The first ingredient - seaweed, is really the shining star of the show. I’m a massiveeeeee fan of Solid Gold’s Sea Meal supplement. I typically buy it at a local store but they don’t carry it anymore so I ordered off here and can leave an actual review. I’ve fed Sea Meal since 2023. When I tell you it transformed my dog’s coat from normal appearance to literal glow, I mean it! I was referenced this product when I had a GSD with horrid skin and coat issues due to bad allergies. We paired it with CytoPoint injections and eventually his coat came back tenfold. So, I began feeding it to my next dog - pictured here. I got her as a 1YO and her coat was normal I’d say and maybe a bit dull. A change in food (I feed Open Farm and also swear by them!) as well a adding Sea Meal was huge game changer. Everyone thinks my dog is raw fed. When I took on my second foster (the floppy ear Dobie) she could practically walk through a room and you could watch the dander and hair fly. Her coat quality was horrid. This stuff REVIVED her skin and coat. I will never not feed this to any dog or cat I have, and I constantly tell my clients to give it a shot! Don’t skip on this stuff! I feed it to my British Shorthairs as well and their coat quality is insane. Dense, soft, and no excess shedding or oil. I love this stuff!

This is long but for good reason... I have two Great Danes and they LOVE this stuff. I started with salmon oil because my old roommate had a Blue Healer/Aus. Shepherd mix and he had absolutely horrible skin issues. That poor guy used to scratch all night (and day, it was just more noticeable and irritating at night :( ). I looked up some treatments because Vets always want them to take some ridiculous pharmaceutical, and very expensive, stuff that never seems to work. The salmon oil did the trick and when I was looking it up I also saw some awesome reviews about the Solid Gold supplement. This came in super handy some years later when we moved and my male started having some awful skin issues himself. He was always dry but this was getting ridiculous. My younger female is healthy with absolutely beautiful skin and crazy soft fur. My male, as we found out, is super allergic to fleas. He does not respond well to any treatment, other than very strong prescription stuff. We got rid of the fleas and he continued to itch like CRAZY!!! This went on for over a month and it was maddening!! Not only was he driving us nuts but the poor guy was scratching his fur off. He was getting big bald patches all over the place. I was so worried about him I didn't know what to do...then I remembered the Solid Gold. I immediately bought this product. It took a while, and a lot of Benedryl, but he is now in great shape. All of his hair grew back. He still occasionally has some dandruff but it is no where near as bad as before. As for my female, she is in even better shape because she eats the same thing he does and her coat is fabulous! They love this product!!! I have found that YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. You cannot just be lazy and sprinkle it on and call it a day. I had a friend that was complaining saying her dog liked it but her cat was snubbing it...then I found out why. Once she followed the directions and used warm water (you only need a little bit) and stirred it it, they both couldn't get enough. The same goes for my dogs. If my boyfriend feeds them he usually won't go through the whole process and they very obviously don't want to eat their food. If they see me get the green bottle its like I am about to give them crack and they can't handle it. They will try to lick the bowl when just the Seameal and water are in there, before I can get the food mixed in lol! My dogs love this stuff more than the salmon oil and that is saying something. I recommend trying it (and following directions!). Please do be fair and give it time though. It is not going to happen over night.

I’ve been feeding this supplement to my 5-year-old Mastiff mix, Fiona, since she was a puppy after it was recommended by a salesperson at a local pet food store. I sprinkle a teaspoon over her food twice a day. It does have a fishy smell, but my dogs seem to love it because it adds flavor to their kibble/wet food/brown rice combo they eat. I’m glad I listened to that recommendation because Fiona is constantly complimented on her shiny black coat. I’m now giving the same supplement to my Cane Corso puppy, Faith, and her black brindle coat is beautifully shiny as well. Beyond their coats, both of my dogs have been very healthy overall, and I do give some credit to this supplement for supporting their health. One thing to note: the 5 lb container no longer seems to come with the convenient teaspoon scoop, or at least mine didn’t. I was a little disappointed because I would have saved the scoop from the smaller container if I had known. So if you buy a smaller size first, keep the scoop.

I like the product and so does my cat but half way through the container it smells like the oils are rancid. I could not find any expiration date on the package. its dissappointing especially since its pretty pricey and I was willing to pay if not for it going bad. Ingredients look like it would be a good product otherwise but now I am hesitant to buy any more.

Has helped both of my dogs with itching and scratching. Took a break from it to try something different but went back to it as it helped more than other products used. Did it eliminate the scratching, no, but did noticeably reduce it in both dogs.

This is a superb product promoting excellent health and shiny costs for our border collies.

I love this product. It works great. But Iherb sells the same products way cheaper. so that's why -1.

I bought this product for my bitch who lost a lot of hair during pregnancy and after whelping she lost more hair, she was completely bald under her belly and at the front of her neck and was losing a lot of hair behind her shoulders and her tail. She came out in a skin rash and the vet said her immune system was low and she had completely lost all her undercoat. In just ONE WEEK of using this product she had a layer of hair on her tummy and round her neck and tail and her undercoat was already starting to grow - before this she had been without hair for 4 months and I was shampooing her with medicated shampoo every three days.

Good product / my cats didn’t like the taste but try to mix with snacks or other favorite foods)
