54 pages of significant text, the rest is photographs. Not much detail
I'm a product designer and admire Mr. Rams. I thought this book was an in-depth look at his design theory. In actuallity it is a coffee table book full of photographs. Only 1/8 of the book has any significant text and the font is very large and has excessive line spacing. In other words, there is not much discussion here. It is mostly a picture book showing his designs. I should add that many are not so "timeless" and many look like relics from the 60's -70's. The chapter "One Hundred Products in Detail" has almost zero details - just one or two photos. So if you want a coffee table book with plenty of pictures, this is a good one. If you want to learn about Mr. Rams design theory, then this book is lacking. Look elsewhere.Had the book been named "A Tour of Dieter Rams Designs" I would have expected what this book actually is.

Im still reading. So far, pretty good.
I've recently taken an interest in set design. I never knew of Dieter prior to reading, but I have come to find out he is the biggest inspiration behind a lot of products we use today. I dig his philosophy on design being simplistic, and consonant with nature.Good read if you may be interested in designing anything!

Not what I expected
I bought this book because I need to use it for research, but the content is more like a coffee table book. I wished the material could explain more details on the principles.

Overstuffed
This book was a disappointment. The photography is excellent, the presentation beautiful, the execution flawed. There is no linearity, it does not flow. It is repetitive and redundant. There is a whole section on Rams’ house without supportive photographs. I had to look it up online to get the true sense of what it looked like. There were references to products he designed without illustrations. The 10 elements of good design were repeated a number of times as if only to pad out the content of the book. If you want a biography of Dieter Rams look elsewhere.

Nice book, but can be better
There is a chapter almost entirely about Rams' house, how it's shaped and how are the furniture oriented; would be nice if there are some visual aids because I have to search online to actually see what his garden looks like. The title page is a stylish "title, name" on the left and "quote" on the right. It's a good design but some kerning problems in the quotes are really throwing me off. I would expect something better from a design book. Some bad smell, amazing print quality.

Very stylish
Great to look at and it seems fairly exhaustive. A paean to consistency.

Piece of junk
I thought this book was a guide on how to do good product design, instead of that I just got one page listing with 10 obvious "principles" that you can find in internet and a bunch of pictures of very old products without an explanation of how each product was designed. It's just an ego book. I hope my review will help you to avoid this rip-off.

A nice coffee table book...
Look, I love this book. Its full of one of my favourite designers creations. I'd hoped it would have a little more depth into the '10 Principles', but it does have beautiful photography to inspire your ideation.
