You should not use mild galvanised steel bolts, washer, nuts in products tat are exposed to corrosive materials, e.g. fertilizer. The additional cost of stainless steel is negligible and I would be happy to pay the small extra cost. As it is I can see that I will have to replace many of the fixings eventually. You should supply washers for all fixings on both the hex bolt side & the lock nut side as without these the fixings will penetrate the protective paint on the frame & lead to rusting. I used my own stock of SS washers to achieve this. On the sweeper I purchased earlier, the nylon wing nuts failed & I had to replace them with metal. The only difference is the color. It is made and manufactured here in the USA. Dont blame the company or the product if you can not follow very simple directions because my 4 year old grandson can put this thing together with the directions they give you with your purchase **Q: Will this spreader work with the X-series of John Deere mowers? Just wondering how the spreader will line up with the hitch on my mower.** A: We have a John Deere 320 and it works great. **Q: What is the wheel tread and overall width the spreader?** A: The wheel tread is a small knobby type but they do not do any damage to the lawn. My spreader is at my retirement home in South Carolina but the overall width of the spreader tub is about 36" give or take a couple of inches. The wheel base is 26" to the outside of the wheels and the tub is wider than the wheelbase. **Q: Is the tub metal or plastic ? Mainly going to use it for salt, and was thinking in the long run a plastic tub would be better, any info is appreciated** A: It's a plastic tub.
