Comfortable gardening gloves where thorn resistance isn't needed
Although my wife and I have a number of pairs of leather gardening gloves which are perfect for heavy duty or prickly tasks, sometimes you want something lightweight that simply protects your hands from dirt and damp. These gloves fit the bill perfectly. They are very flexible and lightweight, and the cotton lining material is comfortable to wear. The palm and fingers are nitrile coated to give a degree of water resistance, however it should be noted that the back and cuffs of the gloves are uncoated so with prolonged usage the gloves and therefore your hands will eventually become damp.Cheaper alternatives are available, which I am hoping is an indication that these are of a better quality construction and will therefore last longer, but time will tell. Given the slightly higher than normal price I have only awarded four stars, but overall these are useful gardening (or general work) gloves.

Gardening Gloves – Excellent for Lightweight Gardening Work
This set of x2 pairs of gardening gloves arrived wrapped in plastic with a cardboard information label wrapped around them. The gloves are available in a range of sizes including extra small, small, medium and large. I chose the large size which fits as expected but if you need help there is a diagram for sizing in the photograph section. The gloves are a combination of colours – purple/yellow and brown/green which are easy to spot in my shed! The front of the gloves is made from a latex material, which provides a lot of grip for tools, with reinforced fingertips and are breathable due to the jersey knit modal fabric on the backs keeping your hands free of sweat which is comfortable against your skin. The modal fabric is made with cellulose from beech trees and this part of the glove is biodegradable, however the fabric does also contain 18% polyester and 3% spandex with the modal making up 79% of the composition. The elasticated extended cuffs keep dirt from getting into the gloves and protect your wrists from scratches too. The gloves are very lightweight and allow you to maintain full dexterity and feeling whilst wearing them. The latex area is waterproof and non-slip but since this only covers the front of the gloves and not the back they aren’t completely waterproof. They have good stretch to them but since they aren’t the thickest, thorns are likely to puncture through so it is best for lightweight gardening.Since I received these during the winter months, I haven’t fully tested them in the garden yet but they feel good quality and have been constructed well so will be ideal for gardening in the summer. I also like that you can machine wash these gloves on a cold wash (remember to dry by hanging them up rather than tumble drying). Priced at £12.99 at the time of reviewing, these aren’t the cheapest of gardening gloves, but I like the bright unisex colours and the fit is good with a comfortable lining which gives great dexterity / flexibility so I would be happy to recommend them.

Thin gloves ideal for light general gardening work, but not waterproof or heavy duty
Two pairs of gardening gloves arrived rolled up in a small cardboard sleeve, which concerned me as it means they are only thin material. They are made from a fabric material, with a rubber non-slip coating on the front. They material is soft and comfortable and could be worn for long periods of time. However, they are thin meaning they are only suitable to stop dirt getting to your hands during light general gardening work. The front rubber coating can stop your hands getting wet if water is splashed on, but they are not waterproof if your hands are around a lot of water. Also, if you touched something sharp like a rose or bramble thorn, then the thorn would likely go through the gloves as they are only thin.

Good Grippy Gloves
Good comfortable gloves, sizing is accurate. Black non-slip material provides excellent grip and is waterproof so keep your hands dry when handling anything damp. They are not the best for anything with thorns, they seem to go straight through them but otherwise excellent though not the best value.

Good Gloves but Expensive
The media could not be loaded. These gloves arrived in a shrink wrapped cardboard tube that contains 2 pairs. The palm and fingers have a thick, grippy latex coating but the backs of the gloves are breathable so they don’t get too hot. The elasticated wrist section grips well and stops the gloves slipping off. They’re not thorn proof.I got these for my partner to wear whilst gardening. She takes a size 7 glove and I thought the mediums in these looked a little big on her but she says they’re ideal as she doesn’t like them too tight. They do stretch and will fit on my hands (I usually take an XL) and that’s my hand in the video. She’s using these in the garden and greenhouse and she says they’re pretty good especially for weeding. These gloves aren’t bad but at £12.99 for two pairs they’re a lot more expensive than similar gloves available on Amazon so they lose a star because of that.
