Very Happy!
Good quality phone and and simple to set up despite the language issue. Instructions arrived in french but it's an incredibly easy system to navigate. A quick Google search would find the PDF instructions if necessary. Easy to swap the language on the phone to English after pressing through the minimal menu settings until I found 'Anglais'. Love that it doesn't need to be plug into the mains. Phone cable supplied is european but as my existing BT portable phone was still plugged into the phone socket I just unplugged it from that phone and plugged into the new phone and it worked instantly. Call quality is clear as is the speaker phone.

Elegant but letdown by some features not working
Elegant design and delight to use. But for a couple of drawbacks. The speakerphone lacks clarity and the LCD Backlight will not switch on to full brightness in standby mode, even though it was set not to dim. These issues may be due to the fact the phone was intended for the continental European market even though it works perfectly fine in the UK, after changing the language settings to English. The Black version is not officially available for the UK market. So if the colour of the handset is not an issue than its worthwhile considering the White version from a UK retailer instead to avoid the above minor issues.

This phone is not designed for the UK market, but it's still fully usable!
I bought this item as 'Dispatched from and sold by Amazon': it arrived within 48 hours from within the UK, not from abroad as others have experienced. As highlighted by other reviews, however, this product:- Does not come with an English manual; it includes Portuguese, Spanish, Italian and Greek manuals instead.- Does not include a cable compatible with a standard UK BT socket.- (Initially) Has no default option to set English as a language in the menu; only Portuguese, Spanish, Italian and Greek are listed in the menu.Nevertheless, all these problems can be resolved quite easily, as follows:- The English manual can be downloaded from the Philips website by searching the phone model in their Product Support section, at [...]- A standard UK cable for connecting the phone to the wall socket can be either recycled from another phone (as I did) or bought for just over ÂŁ1 on Amazon.- The option to set up English as the phone language will appear in the phone menu shortly after having connected it to the UK socket!I would give 5 star to this phone as the product quality is extremely good, it's robustly built, reliable, and well designed. In fact, this is the second I buy and have been using another (white) for almost two years now with no issue whatsoever. One star comes off because of Amazon failing to describe the product accurately enough: I feel that a clear warning should be included in the product description detailing the issues above.

NOT UK COMPATIBLE!
This is not uk comparable!! The cable does not fit uk sockets and there is no English language option in the user menu!

Nice phone …….. 4 stars
As other reviewers have pointed out, this phone comes with French documentation, a connecting lead suitable for the French network and it has its menu set up in French……. so why buy it?Well quite simply it is a quality phone. It is stylish and very well presented. It looks and feels well made unlike most corded phones available these days.As previous very helpful reviews have stated, all that is needed is a little effort downloading an English version of the operation manual from the Philips website, changing the menu to English language by a few button pushes and replacing the lead that connects to phone to the BT style terminal. I disconnected my old phones lead and used it successfully but otherwise a new cable can be brought for £3 to £4.It’s a shame Philips don’t produce a UK version but with little effort you can end up with a very nice phone.

This is when the fun and games began
This is a quality telephone as one would expect from Philips. It arrived from Italy with three manuals, none of which was in English, so I had to contact Philips direct who sent me the English manual in pdf format. After purchasing a converter-plug for my phone socket, I was able to re-configure the phone to display English as opposed to Italian settings with which it had been pre-set. This is when the fun and games began: It would receive calls, but the caller could not hear me. I got my daughter to call me from different places and at different times, until it was clear that there was some dysfunction with the phone. The speaker would not work. I called Philips UK, with whom I had now established contact from my request for a manual in English. Several attempts to get the phone-speaker to work were in vain. When asked from which company I purchased the phone, and I said Italy, I was immediately informed that the Regional settings for each country were distinct which meant that a phoned designed to work in Italy would certainly not function properly in the UK - BY DESIGN!!.So, I was advised to return the phone to the Seller, which I promptly did, which was a real shame, because it's a beautiful and extremely well-made phone. However, the refund process was smooth as silk. There was no fuss whatsoever. I paid to have it shipped back to Italy (which was quite pricey!) but both the cost of the phone and the shipping-cost were reimbursed to me, promptly. I have been very impressed with the company and their standard of service. Now, if the phone had been UK-enabled, the rating would have been a definite 5 stars! As it is, I could only give three.C'mon Philips...pull your finger out, and give UK customers a decent corded-phone!!! Not everyone is umbilically tied to a mobile phone!

Nice phone and good price
Nice phone and good price. Mine was in French but a bit of schoolboy French and button bashing sorted it out. Not too bothered about that as most products are global now and couldn't find it at a decent price apart from Amazon.
