Not a cheap solution to hard water
These become expensive when you are in a very hard water area. The instructions say run water until flowing cold. With the increase in water bills and the increasing cost of these filters, it becomes too expensive to waste water and works out cheaper to de-scale the kettle.

There are cheaper ones avilable
The price of these filter cartridges keeps fluctuating. When I bought them they were £13, but now they're £25 each. They're definitely not worth that!They do make the water taste better, but for £25 you can find a complete kit on Amazon - a sink-top tap (not great, but usable), filter, pipe, mains pipe-piercing stopcock and a little in-line tap to isolate the water when you change the cartridge. The filter that comes with these is just as good, at least on our water supply...
