What is the resolution if batteries die when you're away for the weekend?

On the bottom of the keypad there are terminals that you can touch a 9V battery to - while a 9V battery is held on those terminals you can enter your code as usual to unlock, then once inside you can replace the main batteries. I don't know for sure whether Bluetooth/HomeKit/Home Key can be used to unlock when a 9V is used for backup power, but my assumption is that they will work as usual.

What's the battery life?

Depends on your usage , I’ve gotten about 6 months of normal usage on my regular assure 2 locks

What features require a homekit hub?

Remote unlock through Apple homkit, and notifications from HomeKit. Or you can not set up in Apple homkit at all and do all the same things just in the Yale app -minus Apple homkey. Which is the whole point of this lock.

Does this require the Yale Access app to work?

You initially set it up through the Yale access app and then you can transfer everything into homkit
