Great book for opening what God has put on your heart for some time now, but what you and I struggle to identify and allow to come forward. The author opens self examination for the reader and pins it to historical information and psychology insight.

I read this book as research for group project in a doctorate program.  A great book on how our desires are needed in the process of being discipled in Christ.  Not a shallow book about how to get saved and go to heaven, but one that deals with the realities of this life as well as the eternal.

This book has changed the way I pray. Step by step it has been leading me through a process of discovering what it is I really want - and the wanting beneath the wanting. What is holy and of God is not remote, but close, very close, and part of that wanting.The blurbs on the back of the original hardcover dust cover are far more eloquent; even better, they're true.
