Excellent value and performance.
Pros:- Mapping and Navigation- Effective Vacuuming- Great App- Overall excellent valueCons:- Mopping isn't very effective, and leaves streaks on the floor. I don't even use it. If you want good mopping, upgrade to one of their spinning mop models.- Robot sometimes takes several minutes to "reposition" before starting to clean.- No battery management options in settings, to limit maximum charge and extend battery service life.

Well worth the money!
The media could not be loaded. We have dark wood floors all throughout our home, so let me tell you that when I use our upright vacuum, within 30 minutes we already see dust on the floor again (just part of the deal of dark floors). We don't have any kids or pets, so it's not like there's a good reason for it. After breaking my back vacuuming and mopping on a very, very regular basis - I told my wife we need some kind of robot vacuum.I did a LOT of research on all different brands and models. Everyone knows Roomba...their branding has completely taken over the market. Anyone I know that has a robot vacuum, has a Roomba. It's like Kleenex.Seeing how expensive Roombas are, I did my homework and discovered Roborock, among other brands. For the amount of features you get with the Roborock S5 Max, versus ANY of the Roombas, for a significantly lower price...well it's not even a comparison. Don't be fooled by a brand name...the S5 Max blows any competitor out of the water. We've only had it for a few days, but I've run it a lot already to test it and honestly, play around as well. This is by far a lifesaver, and I can truthfully say that our floors have never been cleaner with such low maintenance.*** Pros ***1. You can run this thing whenever (even when you're not home), in any place, room, zone, etc. - you don't have to do an entire floor when you just want one room or spot.2. My floors have never been cleaner. Simple as that - the suction on this thing is incredible. And it's not very loud at all, especially on "balanced" mode.3. The Roborock app is extremely intuitive and feature-filled. Lots of different options and controls. Takes some getting used to at first, but its great.4. It goes under my bed, nightstands, and dresser - which are places that are a nightmare to vacuum regularly. I didn't even think it would when I first bought it (kind of an afterthought), but I saw it do with my own eyes and that earned a star or two itself. AND it went under my dining tables, in between chairs, to get every spot. As long as the space is wide enough for the robot to get through, it'll clean it. Again - wasn't imaging that it would do that!5. They update the firmware, so you know they are supporting and improving their products. Spending this much from a brand that isn't as well known is a risk, but that part at least made me more comfortable. Also, there is a subreddit for Roborock, where you can get some support and learn more.6. I have a roughly 3/4-inch room transition between my mud room and kitchen...and I was worried the robot wouldn't climb it. Silly me, this thing goes right over it! Doesn't mean it will do it with any transition, maybe it's the shape of mine...no idea, but it does it with ease!*** Cons *** (Mind you I still gave a 5-star rating, so these aren't deal breakers by any means, more of an FYI)1. I can echo what some of the reviewers said about how this isn't truly "mopping". You cannot use any cleaner, polish, or disinfectant with it (good idea for the future for them though, along with an additional revenue stream) - it's just running a damp cloth over the floor. So you will still have to do old fashioned mopping, or Swiffering, or something once in a while to really clean the floors. But it's fine for maintenance. AND I knew that before I bought it - know one should buy this thinking that it's going to truly mop.2. You'll see in the photo I uploaded, that when it mops, it doesn't get within 4-6 inches of the edge. Not a huge deal, but something to know prior to buying.3. Although it did a great job mapping my different floors (yes, multi-floor mapping is available now on this model), when I tried to run it on a different floor a second time...it kept getting lost. It took a few tries to get it to clean that room. But maybe that will get better as it maps the floors more - time will tell.4. You have to take the mop attachment off when you just want to vacuum, especially on carpet, unless the attachment is 100% dry.5. The more often you run it, the sooner you'll have to change out parts like filters or the brushes. There is a "maintenance" section of the app that tells you the remaining life expectancy of different parts (which is a pro).*** Final Thoughts ***I would buy this again without hesitation, it's just that good. Nothing feels better than walking barefoot on always "just cleaned" floors. If you don't need the mopping function, definitely look at the Roborock S4. That was my runner up.

So much better than the competition
If you're on the fence about buying this vacuum, just buy it. It's worth it.My wife and I already had another brand of robot vacuum, albeit one of their lower-end models and weren't thrilled about it. It binked around each room cleaning the best it could and more often than not got hung up or trapped so,ew here and we'd have to go around the house trying to find it. It was nice when it worked as intended, and that wasn’t very often. We decided it wasn’t even worth the hassle and decided to shelve it, and were debating whether to get another robot vacuum or just give up on the idea entirely. Then we happen to see a YouTube review of this particular vacuum. It got a glowing review, and had few, if any, drawbacks. We were skeptical, but decided we would just send the vacuum back if it didn’t live up to our expectations and maybe revisit the idea of a robot vacuum somewhere down the line. So we ordered this one and gave it a try. Man, am I glad that we did. The stuff that we heard about this vacuum isn’t just hype. This vacuum is the real deal. It does everything we need it to do and we rarely have to mess with anything having to do with it other than emptying out its container every day or two. The only thing that would make this vacuum perfect is if it emptied itself, other than that, it does it all.It has a lidar (laser) scanner that it uses for room mapping and navigating. it’s a game changer. You can use your digital assistant or the app to tell it to clean a specific room of the house or even a specific location in between rooms. You can set a schedule so that it can vacuum rooms or areas in a specific sequence, and on certain days if you like. There’s a lot of flexibility. Once it has a map of the house it doesn’t just bink around trying to find it’s way. If it’s going to a room, it just goes there. And it cleans in a really efficient z-pattern once it is there, which saves time and battery life. When it’s going back to the dock, it probably finds it’s way back 99.99% of the time. When it has a low battery, it will remember where it was, go recharge, and then resume cleaning. It’s a smart little guy.We have dogs and cats, and therefore a lot of pet hair. Our other robot vacuum’s rollers would constantly get hair tangles in it that we would have to get out, and it sucked to do. Super tedious. Whatever roller technology this vacuum uses doesn’t have this issues, and we’ve only had to clean the roller a few times and it was rarely due to pet hair. It also has an air filter that’s washable! This is an awesome, awesome vacuum, and my wife and I have never once regretted buying it. For our use case, It’s fantastic in every way.
