Packt Angular Projects - Third Edition: Build modern web apps in Angular 16 with 10 different projects and cutting-edge technologies

TLDR: I'm super excited to have added this one to my bookshelf. There are several projects in here that I plan on using for my own personal use and the author gives you all the tools you need to expand upon the supplied projects however you wish. 10/10!Background: I'm a self-taught programmer of 10 years, mainly specializing in C#. In the last year or so, I've branched out more into other languages and frameworks, notably those targeted the web space. I'm a life-long learner and continuously read books to stay on top of current technologies.Programming level: Basic knowledge of Angular and Typescript is assumed but any programming knowledge should be sufficient.This is going to be a cherished book that I will be referring back to from time to time. There are (as the title says) 10 real-world projects you will create through the course of this book. In particular, there are two projects I will be expanding: the first is a blog app, which I'm going to use to write about my daily programmings, and a weather app, which I've already tweaked to easily monitor the weather in my area.The author provides everything you need in order to get a fully-functioning project and concisely explains what each area is doing. As stated above, general programming knowledge IS suggested as some of the more basic concepts of Angular/Programming in general are not covered. The best way to view this book is an Angular cookbook that will show you many different ways you can use the framework and supporting libraries to create thoughtful and creative projects.Probably my favorite section of this and something I will be messing around with a lot more is the section on Electron. It's amazing to me how quickly you get a project up and running with Angular and this is a shining example of that.While some may see this as a downside, the brevity of the book adds to the experience as there are no long-winded explanations or side-examples. You will very quickly see the results of your code in (10!) fully-functioning apps and the book encourages expanding on them with suggestions / ideas. The book has definitely inspired me as, already stated, I've expanded one of the projects already and plan on more.You won't be disappointed by this purchase! It's a wonderful way to see what all Angular can offer through the help of external libraries!

However, this is a minor gripe given the vast amount of knowledge packed into this edition.Conclusion:Whether you're just starting with Angular or have been working with it for years, "Angular Projects, Third Edition" is a valuable addition to your library. Bampakos has done a commendable job, and I eagerly await any future works from him!

I found useful tips on making my life easier and being more productive using Angular tooling in VS Code. Each chapter provides essential theory and hands-on guidance. The book's hands-on approach and insightful explanations make it a pleasure to read and follow along.I highly recommend pairing it with "Learning Angular: A no-nonsense guide to building web applications with Angular 15, 4th Edition." I actually ordered this book first, and it complements "Angular Projects" perfectly.

I was willing to expand on my Web Development skills further and decided to get a book that covers some practical grounds on Angular.As I progressed, at first, I started to feel intimidated by the number of unfamiliar techniques, tools, and components the author uses. But I then slowed down, made some additional online research, and started to understand how they fit. It is a joy and a difficulty at the same time to build a list that needs to be updated and periodically research on what components should fit best for what type of a task at hand.Back to the book, or in general, honestly, I found it very time consuming to go through all the practice projects, but it is fun and made me probably foolishly feel that I can work on any project.The projects covered are very diverse so by the time you start say the 7th project you realize you forgot what skills learned in the beginning. So, an often look-back is a good approach here.What I liked: the practice questions, actually the sheer number of projects and the breath of Angular-relevant technologies exposed in the book.What I found to be improved: the use of Bootstrap library (I just do not know if it will be chosen or permitted at your workplace), no dedication to security, i.e., best practices, the deployment only covers Firebase (no other major Cloud PAS providers).In closing, this book is effective and should be used as a supplementary practice material.
