my winch hook was attached with cable clamps and fraying cable that I wanted to make a little neater so I wouldn't get poked by cable wires and I wanted a stop to pull against when retracted. This solved both problems. I did have to get rid of the cable clamps and swage the cable end using a swaging tool. I put heat shrink tubing over the swage to better cover the cable ends and the installed the Warne winch stopper over the swages right behind the hook. It took care of the problem and made a need installation. I suppose you could install the stopper behind cable clamps if you had them and don't have a swaging tool but the little extra effort made a better job. The Warne winch stopper was inexpensive and came with stainless steel bolts which was a nice touch.

Just what I wanted

This was the only piece that was missing from my winch when I bought it I think it adds to the look to make it look more. Seems pretty decent. I was originally concerned. It's a little loose on the rope, but I think that's not a big deal.

This hook stop makes it much easier to secure the hook and keep tension on the cable after using the winch on our Yamaha Side by Side. I was a little confused as to where to position the hook stop on the cable, but I figured out it works best directly behind the hook so that the hook cannot flop around. The quality seems fine. I'm sure the winch could pretty well destroy the hook stop if we powered in the cable too much, but that's not a flaw: winches are very powerful.
