Captivating & informative
I really enjoy delving into history and "Our Secret Society" not only brought to light some of the history in the black culture, but is interestingly entertaining. The writer, Tanisha C. Ford, wrote in a way that put me in the moment of the characters of the book. I lived vicariously through them as I read through the captivating moments of their time. When I read history that keeps me engaged as I'm being educated, that's a winner for me. Great read, I'm giving this book 5 stars!Marcia G

I Love this book. Tanisha Ford has a writing style that naturally allows you to become one with Mollie Moon and her fascinating journey through life . In "My Secret Society" Tanisha fills her book with a well researched history of the early civil rights movers and shakers who helped improve lives through their hard work and dedication to the cause. Not only is the book informative it is also a captivating read.Renee'/bc

Once I started it, I couldn't put it down.
"My goal was to produce a rigorously researched, highly readable book that also shows the many faces of Mollie Moon--with all her flaws and contradictions--and the world she navigated. I wanted to show how Mollie and her peers grappled with moral dilemmas and fractious economic, political and social debates, and in so doing, induce readers to wrestle with them as well." - Tanisha C. Ford.I love when authors write to readers at the end of a book and tell us what they sought to do and about the process.I started and finished this book in three days, and I learned so much and found myself wrestling a lot too.I believe it when Ford says this was a difficult book to write. I am SO grateful that she persevered and what a gifted storyteller. The book opens with Mollie Moon in Russia in 1932 and so begins a wild and unforgettable history of Moon yes and so many others. Chapter 7 especially, reads like fiction!Highly recommend.
