Kaname Chidori's one of the most popular girls at her high school - unfortunately, it's her growing popularity off campus she should be worrying about. Unbeknownst to Kaname, terrorists are plotting her abduction, believing she possesses the rare and coveted abilities of "the Whispered." That's where Sousuke Sagara enters the picture. He's a hotshot soldier from the clandestine counter-terrorist organization known as Mithril - and he's going undercover at Kaname's school to try and keep her safe. One of the best
I love Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu is probably my favourite series for just how crazy it is, more slapstick than the other two series and focused on the school aspect of things rather than the mecha side. The animation is a bit dated now, but on the whole it still stands up, and while the first series may show it's age in a few ways, with a few lackluster plots in some of the arcs it paved the way for the later series to build on the foundations this had set out, so it's definitely worth watching opposed to skipping in favour of Fumoffu and Second Raid. The sound is good, pretty generic at times and the standard for it's period, but first and second series OP and ED are pretty stand out and iconic, so much so that we got a Lucky Star Karaoke version of the brilliant I Guess That's Love.As for the dub, damn, that dub is something to write home about, this is what all dubs should aim for, it's one of the best dubs in anime, so much so that it's one of the few series where I outright prefer the dub to the sub and find myself unable to watch the sub as I just have to switch back to the dub. This may be an old anime, but it's a good one, it's referenced in many anime, so that should say something about how well regarded this is amongst anime fans, and the good news is that there is going to be a fourth series coming soon.

watchable but nothing too brilliant; from the animation to the general plot
Season 1 was kinda meh, watchable but nothing too brilliant; from the animation to the general plot.Fumoffu was pure comedy gold. It only having a BD release in this boxset is the main reason that I bought it. This season focuses entirely on the hughschool slapstick comedy side of things, and does so perfectly. The 2nd Raid is utter brilliance as well. This goes back to the military mecha action (with some really nice action scenes that put season 1 to shame) and some highschool comedy, but nowhere near as much as season 1 or Fumoffu. A very good season. The dub for this show is also brilliant, if for the 2 main characters alone.

FMP is amazing
By all means one of the best anime ever created. A half decent plot, some good action scenes and hilarious to boot! Season one does not start really until a 4 or 5 episodes in, but it is worth the wait. Everyone I know who has watched this has fallen in love with it!This release also brings the second raid to the UK officially - so despite owning series 1 and 2 on dvd, i did not hesitate to spend 100 quid on this bad boy - no regrets!
