I got myself the 5-piece (13-inch blade, 7 inch Santoku, Chuke Cleaver, Wooden Cutting Board, and 1000/3000 Sharpening Stone) set and the Kuro set for Christmas, and both are beyond what I was expecting. The Chuka Cleaver has actually become my new go-to knife. It is heavy and powerful, and I am yet to find an item that it doesn't slice through with ease. The Santoku is a beautiful blade that feels wonderful to hold and use, I thought it was going to be my favorite of the batch, but it is a close second. The 13-incher is a bit... large, but it's fun to show off as my "Chef's Sword." As weird of a compliment as it is, the cutting board smells amazing. It actually adds another element of enjoyment while preparing food. The Sharpening Stone, ohh man, I didn't know what I was in for/missing. I love to keep my knives sharp, and have a honing rod and basic kitchen sharpener which I used semi regularly. These two items are an easy process usually taking a matter of minutes or seconds to use. Once I got the stone in, I spent HOURS resharpening/repairing all my old blades (I watched a few YouTube videos before beginning, so I kinda knew what to do). There was a ton of labor involved, both mental and physical, but my knives have not looked or preformed this well. All in all, I am very pleased with this purchase. The knives look great, feel great, and add even more fun to cooking. (Be careful though, I spent about a half second not paying attention, and the damn cleaver bit me. Barely any pressure to the cut but still made a substantial gash in my thumb. Cutting Prime rib or chopping up vegetables. Kamikoto has made food preparation easy. I don't know if it is the sharpness or the balance, but I feel almost excited to prepare dinner. Buying Kamikoto knives was money well spent. I have five different Kamikoto knives all have sharpness that lasts and balance that allows cutting with ease. I would recommend these knives to everyone.
