These Zayd black mustard seeds are a great value for organic spices and I like that it comes in a resealable container. They come in useful for my South Asian dishes!

Adds taste to your recipe
We cook quite a bit of Indian style food in our home and a lot of those recipes use Mustard Seeds in them. These are used to add flavor to a lot different foods. There is a dish called Dhokla that these mustard seeds go well with sprinkled on the top. We've enjoyed using these in our recipes and the box is big enough to last us a couple of months. I highly recommend the Zayd Organics brand of mustard seeds.

Tastes great!
My grandmothers Mexican relish recipe calls for mustard seed and we make it every fall after the tomato season ends and we have lots of green tomatoes. This mustard seed works well in the recipe and tastes as good as any. You get a huge container too so we vacuum sealed the remaining seeds into 2 smaller pouches and we should have enough to make it through the next few years. Great value.

Expired Date for the Following Month
Please check the expiration date. The mustard seeds I received had an expiration date for the following month. Yes you can use past the date, however, 20oz is a lot of seeds to use in that short of time.

Good value for the money
Arrived in perfect condition. It's packaged in a sturdy bottle that can be reused after the seeds are used up. Doesn't seem to be bad for the price considering it's 20 oz. I like that a batch year is included. Expiration date on mine is rather on the short side (February 2024), but I imagine as long as it's kept dry, it should be good well beyond that date. Product of India.

Zayd Organic Black Mustard Seeds
I got these black mustard seeds because I do a fair amount of Indian recipes but 20 ounces is a lot of mustand seeds so I decided to give homemade mustard a shot. I soaked 100 grams of seeds in 1 1/4 cups of white wine vinegar for 8 hours, drained them and then pulsed the seeds in a food processor. The result was a spicy rustic mustard that you might see on a high end charcuterie board. The expiration date is February 2024 but I know from experience the dried seeds will keep longer. But now that I know how easy it is to produce a fancy delicious mustard I suspect I'll put a big dent in this jar of mustard seed over the holidays.

Lots of seeds, short expiration date... 3.5 stars
You get a large amount of seeds in this container of Zayd Organic Black Mustard Seeds, but the expiration date is only a few months away. I've been wanting to try my hand at making my own mustard, and I may use it up through trial and error, so that might not be an issue for me. I will also try using some to grow microgreens, since there are so many, and I don't know how tasty of a mustard I may create. If you don't plan to use these quickly, it would probably be a good idea to separate small portions of seeds into vacuum seal bags, which will help keep them fresher after the expiration date passes. Due to the short use by date, I don't think I would seek these mustard seeds out for repurchase.
