Dinosaur Planet
Once again our favorite storyteller has treated her readers to another planet complete with fascinating people and creatures. Weather the "animals" will become telepathic or sentient in any way, is another story.

Slow in the middle
The story opened up with a Thek waking up one of the survivors. After a few adventures, it started plodding. Then it picked up near the end. I can't be specific 'cause it would spoil the plot if you want to read it.It's hard to find a "bad" McCaffrey book and this IS NOT one of them. One of the things that turned me off of this series is the push for vegetarianism by the characters (probably something McCaffrey was going through herself). And yes, the origin of the dinosaurs is explained in the end.

Love it always have always will.
Anne writes in space and on fantastic worlds, but it is always about the people, and our great many vices.

McCaffrey is always a win!
A continuation of the story of the Ireta survivors, McCaffrey always delivers an exciting storyline, full of multiple levels of action.

The Ireta Adventure
"The Ireta Adventure" ("Dinosaur Planet" & "Dinosaur Planet Survivors") should be read with "The Planet Pirates" ("Sassinak", "The Death of Sleep" & "Generation Warriors"). "The Death of Sleep" is set before and somewhat during "Dinosaur Planet". "Sassinak" is set after these two and ends up overlapping "Dinosaur Planet Survivors". "Generation Warriors" is set right after "Sassinak" leaves off. If you want the whole story I suggest reading all five parts of the story.

I read this and the pre-cursor with great anticipation, However
disappointing - I have been a fan of Anne McCaffrey for many years, since I was a kid. I read this and the pre-cursor with great anticipation, However, I didn't feel either book ever really got off the ground - the characterization was flat and the secondary characters so vaguely drawn that it was very hard to keep them straight; the plot was only mildly interesting, and the resolution not particularly intriguing. I don't think this was one of her earliest series, but it might have been. It reminded me of some of the free e-books I've read from beginning writers, which is not what I expected. Now I'm going to have to go back to the Pern books and see if they're as good as I remember....
