Really neat piece of equipment
I’m doing scale drawings of some model railroad cars. I had a good digital caliper, but it only did inches and mm. I was doing a lot of conversion to HO scale 1:87.On read up about the custom scales of this digital ruler and calipers so I ordered it. It took a little effort to learn, but I created a custom 1:87 scale. It worked very well. I got measurements in 1:87 feet and inches. It was a piece of cake to put the details into the drawing. The calculator conversion step is totally gone.I expect this to be a very handy ruler and calipers.

Easy digital display
Easier to read, than a ruler as you get older.

Good for general measuring, but not a solid dedicated tool if you mostly use calipers
This is a jack of all trades, but master of none type measuring device in my use for design. More "gadgety", but it does work. I've mostly used it for the calipers for inside and outside measurements to build parts for our 3D printers and modifications that go along with them. While fun to use and it has a lot of novelty, I find myself regularly reverting back to my dedicated calipers that can measure items really small, I'm talking 7mm and under. This has the smallest available inside measurement of roughly about 5mm, due to the rounded jaws and short reach. I'm sure this design is the way it is because the entire tool is almost all made of aluminum, and having sharp, thin, and pointy measuring ends, would be at risk of damage and wear. It's gotten lots of attention in the studio due to it's very techy and well appointed features/ accessories, but the novelty wore off pretty quick amongst many as well. If you're measuring items above 5mm, it will work, since the range is just over 300mm. The scaling feature would be great for architecture and drafting, or measuring toys to scale up in CAD drawings if your goal is to reach 1:1 ratios. This is the best feature of this measuring tool, so it will be great if dedicated for scaling items up and modeling them in basic CAD software as one is learning. I model in CATIA for work, so the resolution of this also isn't quite there for high tolerance values, this goes to 0.1mm.The tool also takes a few seconds to turn on, calibrate, and then zero out. Through the several months of use (10-30 times a week), I've also noticed some wear and a slightly rough feel to the first 30mm of travel from zero, but didn't see any wear or the sliding bearing surfaces. After a few months, I've only had to charge it twice, so battery life is great, especially with the auto sleep function and it will actually shut off after maybe 20 minutes? A bit torn on how to rate this, as it does work well and definitely a "gadgety" item with very high overall quality construction and materials. The included case doesn't have provisions or space to store all the extras (screwdrivers/ spare end cover/ charge cable), so they're going to be kept in their baggies and float around a bit in the case. It's a solid 3.5 star rating for me, but will round up to 4 based on the overall quality of the tool and the variety of use it does offer.

New favorite work tool for this plumbing estimator and project manager.
I estimate and project manage large custom homes. 5000-110,000sqft. That wasn't a typo. Often the set of plans that they send us are scanned sets - so start as digital, get printed, then stamped, then scanned, then reprinted for me to estimate from. The current job I'm working on shows 1/4"=1' Arch scale. One section was labeled 11'-8". SO I pulled out my brand new NeoRuler, set it to 1/4=1, pulled the measurement and the NeoRuler showed 11-6. I panicked. Is this thing bad? Did I waste my money? I pulled out my Staedtler scaler and nope... 11-6 on that as well. So I put the NeoRuler into Custom Scale mode, pulled it to the 11-8 section and then inputted that it should equal 11"-8". Pushed set, and bang! The NeoRuler is now set for the janky misprint/mis-scan of these plans. PERFECT!To the bad reviews complaining about this ruler... and I read them ALL before spending the money on this. You all got it for FREE and then ripped it apart. Well, I'm a PAYING customer that bought it even though you all said it was bad, and YOU ARE WRONG. Yes, it is VERY difficult to use and set up if you try to do it without the instructions. I tried to do that to and didn't get anywhere. But Hozo has GREAT tutorial videos on YouTube and once you follow the easy step by step instructions, it all makes sense and it's really easy. If you use scaling rulers and have used a Scale Master digital rolling scale, this is no more complicated than that once you learn it. It will not REPLACE my Scale Master, but this is perfect for the times I would use a ruler to scale.I also got the caliper kit because I 3D design and print, and I can't wait to use it for 3D fabrication.AMAZING PRODUCT! A pricey purchase, but it's not a toy, it's a professional tool.

Handy, especially for those of us who have to get the readers out
This NeoRuler Digital Caliper Kit Premium Combo, 12 inch NeoCaliper Measuring Tool, ±0.004 inch Accuracy, 93 Built-in US will need to be charged when it arrives, but you'll soon be delighted with its capabilities, especially if you have to get out the magnifier to read the tiny markings on your manual caliper, like I do.It does appear to be accurate (she said after getting out her manual calipers and the magnifying glass).Has a pretty wide range, so you'll get more accuracy on bigger widths as well.Great for determining clearances.I would have been delighted if it had arrived charged, but I understand the safety factor in not shipping it ready to roll.Took a while to charge, but that was on my car charger, as I'd intended to use it during my Chrome delete to measure vinyl strips, but alas, had to go the tape measure and cardboard box pattern route. However, I still have the hot mess of a grille to carbon delete, so I'm pretty sure the caliper can get heavy use there. In the meantime, it did a fine job putting down a floor and building a few things around the house. As long as you keep it charged and ready to go, will def be your favorite measuring device. It is well made and substantial. Has a little heft.Impressed, if not fully instantly gratified - still five stars!
