Keeps soup hot until well past lunchtime
For the scale of the item, see my photo of all pieces separated, next to a standard 12 oz mug. This container is perfect for taking lunch to work if you don't have the means to warm your food, but you prefer a hot lunch. It's rugged, and comes with the convenience of an ingenious, built-in, folding spoon. In order to determine how long food would remain hot and safe to eat, I did a test with boiling water. Assuming that the container was about room temperature at the start, and it was stored in a 70 degree F environment thereafter, I poured half a liter of boiled water into the container, then sealed it up. The liquid registered at 203 F on my instant read thermometer at that time. After letting some time pass, I took some temperature readings and fit the readings to a logarithmic cooling curve. If my estimates are correct, this container will keep boiled water above 140 F (and out of the danger zone) for 5 hours and 45 minutes. According to the USDA, food is theoretically still safe to consume for another two hours after that. So, if your food starts out over 203 degrees F, it appears you're safe for over 6 hours, with some wiggle room. That's a long time. **Don't rely on my calculations, though.** The times can vary depending on starting conditions and storing conditions, so please practice good food safety for the sake of your health.I can say that I've used this to store food for four hours and it was at a good temperature for eating. The top of the jar gets noticeably warm; this is where most of the heat loss is happening. Be aware of that. I used this not only to carry lunch, but also to bring ice to work for iced coffee and tea. It's great for both uses.

I really like this
I've been using this for the past month to keep my morning tea/coffee hot. I didn't time it for how long it can keep its contents hot/cold but my drink would be still almost burning hot even after hours and me sipping from it. And if it works with water, it's safe to assume that it'd work with soup/solids too.No flaking or strip on the paint outside while being carried in a packed bag. great so far.

Keeps hot water really hot.
So I have to confess I didn't get this for coffee or soup. I use an airbrush with acrylic paints. I constantly need hot water to clean out and flush the airbrush between paint colors. This keeps my hot water hot for as long as I need it. I mean the water was still warm the next day. At least I'm not going back and forth to the kitchen to clean the airbrush now. So, primary function, keep stuff hot, that's an A+. When the top is on it doesn't leak, so secondary function is covered too. It has a great solid feel to it and could probably take a much more severe handling than I'll ever give it. The folding spoon could be useful for those wanting to use it for soup or chili, but of course I can't really speak to the spoon's usefulness.

Now Part of My Daily Lunch Set - Review + BONUS Rant!
Any time a lunch product claims to be "leak proof", I feel obligated to test that claim.I added 2 cups of water to the Thermo container, screwed the lid and the cup on tight, and turned it upside-down for 30 minutes. No leaks from the lid, which means the cup had nothing in it to leak out. Another win for truth in advertising. This insulated food jar is pretty much just what they say it is - it's got great capacity, the wide mouth makes it easy to clean, andI like the size for my lunch box. I did not test the "Keep Hot 24h" claim. "Hot" is a subjective term. Food-safe temperatures is another thing entirely. One minus, the set includes a useless foldable spork. This one is of the useless metal variety.Other than that, it's a great product and it's my go-to thermo container for hot stuff.Review over. Rant follows.Q: Mrs. Robinson, just what is your problem with manufacturers including foldable sporks with their products?A: It's a gimmick that adds nothing to the value of the product and, in some product designs, it decreases the amount of food the product can contain. It's useless as both a spoon and a fork. You can't eat soup with it, it all leaks through the tines. It fails hard as a fork because you can't stab anything with the micro tines. You're better off buying a stash of cheap cutlery from Goodwill. Then, if it gets separated from your lunch kit, it won't crush your noodle.Sporks be damned!Rant complete. Don't make me say this again lunch set manufacturers.

Commercial Grade Food Jar With A Foldable Spoon
I ordered this stainless steel vacuum insulated food jar to take my lunch to work. This food jar is well-constructed. It conveniently includes a stainless steel foldable spoon. Compare to my old Thermos food jar, for the same price and the same capacity, the Thermos doesn’t even come with a spoon.I normally steam some rice in the rice cooker in the morning and heat up some leftovers for my lunch. Before I Place them in the food jar, I pour some boiling water into the food jar and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Then I dump the water out , place the food in the food jar and screw on the lids. Five hours later, it is my lunchtime and the food is still hot and tasty. This food jar can preserve temperature so well that sometimes I use it as a slow cooker to make porridge. I am satisfied with this stainless steel vacuum insulated food jar. I just wish this manufacturer could make some larger capacity food jars because I have an average appetite but still need two 25 oz food jars to hold enough food for my lunch.

Insulated thermos is great for hot drinks and soups during these cold winter months.
I have used my M-Tac 25 Oz Thermos for a warm lunch for the last few weeks.I have used it with both soups and warm coffee.I prefer to use it for soup as it comes with a convenient lid to hold my soup in. The thermos has maintained temperature for over 5 hours with very little heat loss. Which makes for a much more enjoyable lunchtime.Even more importantly the thermos has a wide lid so cleaning after use is a snap.
