A great film with plenty of action

Guns, explosions, more guns and more explosions, knife throwing, sly growling what more could you want from an action film? This is back to great action film making, it's escapism and nothing to be taken to seriously. The Expendables was an excellent movie in it's original version - the only issue I had with the original version was the climax - the action sequences did not live up to what was seen at the beginning of the movie -This new version titled The Expendables: Extended Directors Cut - does fix that issue with the ending - and the ending is far more dramatic and spectacular now - the action sequences are longer in the climax which makes the ending more satisfying.However with this new extended cut comes a few new extra scenes at the start which kind of slow the pace down - and don't really do anything new for the plot.For example there are some music-video type narrative scenes, if you don't know what I mean there are a number of these types of scenes in COBRA and ROCKY IV - these ruin the pace and are really not required - if a scene can be done without sticking a song over it, it should be done that way - it's just lazyness on the moviemaker's part.Also there is a rather dumb sequence showing Dolph Lundgren's character somehow coming out of the plane that Sly and Jason Statham have travelled on to the island of Vilaina at the start of the movie (somehow Dolph managed to misaculously avoid being caught by the other 2 expendables en-route.) this only serves to ruin what were otherwise alread excellently edited scenes in the original movie. Which is why I give this an excellent 4 star rating rather than the perfect 5 it should have been.out of the two versions I prefer the previous uncut bluray release - however this disc is still a must-buy just to see the excellent end action sequences in their newly edited form.If Sly had simply slapped the new ending on the otherwise excellent original this would've been the perfect special edition.This is still an excellent version to watch however and an excellent companion piece to the original movie and worthy of being part of your collection.

Always like an excuse for a directors/extended cut of a film just to see what happens and differences between the cuts. All good here just more of it.

I heard about this movie a year before it was released and my friends and I went to the movies straight away when this was in the cinema.I digress but I also went to the premiere in London and got an autograph from Stallone and he shook my hand which was an awesome moment as I am a big big fan of his work.Back to the movie, in my opinion if any guy does not like this movie I'm sorry but you do not have a set down there. This movie is everything a good old fashioned 90's action film was about. The missionaries and you had a group of soldiers who were hired privately to take them out.This all action cast did a good job and the scenes within the movie both action and non-action were great. One of the best non action scenes was between Micky Rourke and Sly which really highlighted two of the best action and emotion actors.Furthermore, I would recommend this movie to anyone who loves a good old fashioned action movie, i bought this on blue ray and the quality is excellent. I think it's £10 for blue ray which is pretty good but Lads please watch this movie and you will realise how much action movies have changed today for the worst. No longer do we have large human beings who when they look at someone in the eye people get goosebumps.

Great movie. Action-packed, full of stars, simple plot and more guns than America would know what to do with. Honestly, so many guns.And don't even get me started on the number of bullets that are used...And the explosives.The vehicles that get blown up.The bad guys that get a bad case of "lead-poisoning"? There are a lot of them. Like A LOT!... At least 7. Minimum. I didn't count them all, but at least 7 bad guys eat it.If you're looking for a movie that will entertain your primordial brain, this is it.If you're looking for something deeper, go for Schindler's List. This is not Schindler's List, the is The Expendables.If you're looking for a burgundy waffle-maker, our princess is in another castle.Peace out!

Esta versión supera la versión que sacaron aquí en México los de ZIMA. Muchas películas salen en versión de ZIMA y por lo general le bajan la calidad de imagen y sonido. Prefiero pagar un poco más, aunque a veces sale más barato, y tener algo de calidad. Esta versión es extendida y está grabada con 7.1 canales de audio.La película me pare muy buena, no porque sea la mejor de todos los tiempos, sino porque está bien hecha, trae de regreso en concepto de las buenas películas de acción de los 80s, con los héroes de aquélla época, y sobre todo todos estos actores demuestran que la edad es una cuestión de actitud, antes cualquier persona mayor de sesenta eras un anciano, con cuerpo decrepito, con bastón o silla de ruedas. Sylvester Stallone y los demás actores imponen un nuevo paradigma, con una vitalidad y unos cuerpos atléticos que ya quisieran los jóvenes.

Un steelbook de fábula para esta película. A quien le guste, no puede dejar pasar esta opción. Está a precio de derribo. Eso sí, nada de audio en castellano, sólo inglés y alemán. Pero por este precio, bien merece la pena y hacer una custom con la edición española.
