GLAHODEN 5/8 in x 100 ft Retractable Garden Hose Reel with Automatic Rewind

Updating a review after three years of use and four total purchases. I still give this 5 stars, as the retraction mechanism is still strong, and my opinion of the product must be positive, as I just purchased my Fourth one. After almost four years of usage, my only complaint is with the hose nozzle included with each reel. My third Glahoden’s nozzle was defective from day one. I replaced it with a sturdier nozzle from the local home improvement warehouse, and no problems since. Glahoden #2 (the one we use the most) started leaking from the faucet fitting, but I made a quick fix using a brass hose repair kit… no problems since. I absolutely still recommend this product. We drain ours and bring into the garage over the winter, so that may contribute to the longevity. ——————————— I bought the first one last Christmas and installed it at our mountain cabin. It stretches all over the property to allow us to water the shrubbery, or to wash the cars or ATV. It retracts very easily. When we moved to a new house, we bought the second one of these to put in the backyard. Again, just so happy with the ability to reach all areas of our backyard with the hose, and then to have it retract automatically into a neat, compact unit. Considering buying another one for the front yard! You will not regret buying this! Pros: 1. Utility. Just love the ability to pull out as much hose as you need, and then to have it retract once done. 2. No more ugly wads of hose or rusty hose reels on the ground! The fact that this mounts to the wall creates a nice, compact, neat place for your hose. 3. Quality. The hose itself seems to be sturdy and of good quality. It doesn’t kink or leak. 4. Winterization. When the weather gets to freezing, you can unmount the entire unit by pulling one hinge pin, and then store the hose reel somewhere that is temperature protected. Very smart! No more split hoses due to freezing temps! Cons: 1. Size. It takes up a bit of space. Know this and plan for its placement accordingly. 2. Weight. Once water starts flowing through the hose, the reel can get heavy quickly. Because of this, it must be mounted securely. For one of our reels, used TapCon concrete anchors in lieu of the provided hardware to ensure it would stay securely on the brick wall of the house. For the other, the provided hardware was sufficient to secure to wood facia on the house. 3. Hinge pin is plastic. Fairly thick plastic, but plastic. Would have preferred bronze, but so far, no problems. ***** UPDATED ***** When I pulled the hinge pin this winter to store the reel in my garage, I realized that the hinge pin is actually plastic covered aluminum. Better than just plastic, but would still have preferred bronze. If you’re wondering if you should get this, quit wondering. GET THIS!

Great hose! Very easy to install and works very nicely! The nozzle sprayer that comes with it is a little bit finnicky and not the best quality but it was very easy to replace with one I had laying around. Keep out of sun if possible! Glahoden Team Support was very supportive whenever I had any questions!

Absolutely love this hose reel. Being able to easily pull out the full 100 feet of hose makes watering and cleaning around the house so much easier and less frustrating. The retractable system works very smoothly, and the slow retraction feature is a huge plus because it keeps the hose from snapping back aggressively. The nozzle is also extremely well designed and easy to use. I really like having multiple spray functions depending on what I’m doing, whether it’s watering grass, rinsing off the patio, or cleaning around the house. The 180° swivel feature also makes moving around much easier without fighting the hose. Overall, this feels like a very high-quality product that was well worth the purchase. Installation was straightforward, the hose feels durable, and the convenience factor alone makes it one of the best outdoor upgrades I’ve bought.

UPDATE - The company reached out to me following my review and asked what they could do to resolve the situation. They agreed to send me a replacement reel at no cost. We've since received and installed the new house reel and it's working great. Really good customer service. I've owned this hose for for 15 months... and absolutely loved it until a few weeks ago. Unfortunately it developer a leak inside the unit that doesn't seem repairable. The leak grew over the last few weeks and now no water at all is coming out of the hose. We took really good care of the hose reel, taking it inside during the winter, etc etc, so it's a huge disappointment that this product lasted barely a year. I therefore can't recommend it to other buyers.

I liked this unit so much that this is the third one that I have purchased. I bought three of them to have them evenly spaced around the property. The strong, consistent rewind function is outstanding. It saves wrestling with a loose hose. It neatly winds and stores the hose out of sight and dispenses the hose with a simple pull.

I've never written a review before. I am the owner of 3 of these Gladden Reels. All 3 were purchased within the last 3 months. I have one for the main house, one for the garden and one at our cabin. The product arrived as expected and was professionally and securely packaged. The directions for assembly were exact and easy to apply to getting the product to be functional. I had a problem with one of the nozzles and wrote to the company who promptly replied, asked for pictures but regardless said a new nozzle was on its way. The communications from Glahoden were timely, polite and they took ownership for the leaking nozzle. I am so very pleased with the 3 units appearance and operation. You will be pleased.

I wanted to love this hose reel, and for the first few months, it performed flawlessly. However, after some regular use and exposure to the elements, a few frustrating issues popped up: Retraction Loss: After a few months, the internal spring mechanism began losing tension. It still retracts most of the hose, but it consistently leaves the last 3 to 4 feet dangling outside the casing, forcing me to feed it in manually. Loose Brass Bib: The brass connection point became loose over time. Now, when I try to screw on a nozzle or a sprinkler, the entire fitting spins in place, making tight connections a hassle. Fading Plastic: The outer casing faded significantly in the sun over a short period, making it look much older than it actually is. The Silver Lining: Excellent Customer Support When I reached out to the manufacturer to report these issues, their customer support team was fantastic. They stood behind their product and **replaced the entire unit free of charge. Final Thoughts While the original unit had some durability and tension flaws over time, the company's willingness to make things right promptly earns them high marks. If you run into issues, definitely reach out to their support team—they will take care of you! I would not purchase again.

I have used this hose reel for the majority of this summer and have been very satisfied. My only wish is that there was an option for a 3/4" hose. I do find that the retraction mechanism can be somewhat finicky to get to activate. My wife has a harder time getting it retract than I do. The price was very reasonable and I can live with the rewind issue. I would purchase this reel again if I was shopping for a retractable hose reel; especially if I could get this with 3/4" hose.

The font on the cup was pixelated and unclear so I would not recommend as a result.

Easy to install, use and retract. Quality piece of equipment for the garden.

Sieht gut aus leicht zu montieren funktionier wie es soll

Facile à installer, discret grâce à sa couleur, longueur parfaite

Meh works ok. Doesn't retract super strong on its own but does the job. Hose also isn't the best quality
