I have significant balance issues, and falls are a daily occurrence. As such, having a handhold when climbing the few stairs into/out of my back door is a must. So when I saw this, I jumped (figuratively, as I would likely fall if I actually jumped) at the opportunity to grab it (pun intended).This handrail is well made. It is simple to assemble and install if you are installing it onto wood, not as simple if you are installing it onto bricks or concrete—more about that in a bit. But once installed, I found the style to look nice and function very well. I doubt I will ever put a significant amount of my body weight on this, but it will definitely keep me stable as I ascend/descend the few steps to my garden.While I overall have a positive opinion of this handrail, I still have three minor complaints though. The installation, while easy is not as straightforward as the manufacturer states. When installing in concrete or brick, the hole is not ¼”. If you use a ¼” drill bit, you cannot get the anchors into the wall—and to complicate it further, a 5/16” bit is too big as it allows the anchor too much room. I got around this by epoxying anchors into the wall.The second issue is the diameter of the handrail itself. It is pretty small. It might just be my issue as I do have big hands—but it is a minor complaint from my perspective.Finally, the price seems to be excessive for this product. I found several near duplicates of this handrail on Amazon. All are either much less expensive or are better made.Pros:• Nice looking as well as functional design.• The color is awesome.• The plate is easy to align, mark, and mount.Cons:• The anchors are not appropriate for masonry applications.• The diameter of the handrail might be too small for those with larger hands.• It is on the expensive side.My Take: I would recommend this.
