The Outer Hebrides: Sea Kayaking Around the Isles & St Kilda

Excellent - with reservations
This is the third book in this series I have bought, and as with the others, (Scotland and South West) it is a fantastic read, with a mix of beautiful photos, maps and route descriptions. It is really comprehensive, including all the expected routes, as well as a few long distance crossings that will probably only be for a select few!I do have a couple of slightly more negative comments however. The first two thirds of the book are written in a slightly unengaging way, and don't really get over the sheer wonder and beauty of the places described. The last few chapters seemed to really pick up the interest, and the enthusiasm of the writer increases. The other major gripe is with the maps. Many of the features described in the text were not on the maps, which is a great pity, as unless you have all the OS maps, some route descriptions are rather hard to follow.Overall a lovely book however, and much recommended.

This is an excellent book. It has beautiful photos
This is an excellent book. It has beautiful photos, clear maps and all the information you need to plan safe trips around the Outer Hebrides. If there were a 'Look inside' option on the sales page I'm sure more would be sold.

Clear routes and excellent background information
Essential reading for anyone wanting to paddle in the outer hebrides. Clear routes and excellent background information. Don't think they are the only trips though as there are many other possibilities.
