Q: How do you add them on the trousers if you are not able to sew them?

You push the metal teeth through the fabric and bend the teeth over, bit like a staple. Can be fiddly, but it works and gives a neat finish.

Q: Could you use a couple of these to shorten a waistband?

you could sew the "loop" part of the pieces a bit further along to make the trouser band narrower but I am not sure if that's what you want. Good luck

No its not bulky it gave a tidy finish abd not noticable
