I purchased a new desktop and within 2 weeks filled the SSD so needed another one. Found this T9 from Samsung. I did try the Samsung Magician software but in the end went thru the computers disk manager which works great. Very surprised by its compact size, weight and quality. I had 1 usbc 3.2 on my computer and using this for the SSD. I have transferred all my Steam Games to the SSD, every easy and quick process at blazing fast speeds. This freed up my internal SSD for work items. I purchased an Amazon return that was reported to be like new and it was like new and the 4TB is the way to go for price to size. I have 578 games on Steam and will be able to install most if not all on this SSD for grab and go playing as well as desktop use at home. Recommended.

At that price, it felt like a premium but reasonable purchase for a 4TB portable SSD, and in use it has performed well enough that I don’t feel it was a bad value at the time. Setup was completely straightforward — plug-and-play installation with no drivers required. Formatting was standard for this type of drive, with usable capacity coming in at roughly 3.6TB after formatting, which is expected for advertised “4TB” storage devices. Connectivity has been stable throughout use over USB without dropouts or disconnects. It has remained reliable during long file transfers and repeated plug/unplug cycles. In real-world use, I run large game installs and modded libraries including Cyberpunk 2077, Skyrim, Fallout, The Witcher, and heavily modded Minecraft packs. Read performance has been consistent and stable across all of them, with no noticeable issues loading large assets from the drive. In my video, I also show the drive in active use along with storage status to demonstrate practical capacity and performance. At current pricing levels, the value proposition is much harder to justify, even though the performance itself remains excellent. The product is not the issue — it’s simply in a less favorable price position than when I purchased it. Overall, this is a strong, reliable high-performance external SSD with excellent real-world usability, especially for gaming and large file storage, but it is heavily dependent on purchase price for recommendation value.

Looks good and performs well. I wish I could have afforded the 4TB. The case is robust, and the shape and size perfect. Migrating from the horrible alter world of HDD (most of which destroyed my valuable data), I am only sorry I did not buy these sooner. Sure, I waited months for the Black Friday sales, but it was well worth the wait. I also have some T7s, which are not as good, and tend to lose their connecting cable. The T9 will be my future proofing of valuable data.
