A fun return to the world of supernatural investigations.
I am always excited when I find a series I enjoy! Book one is a great read and this, the second in the series, is just as much fun. I love Kester's humor, humanity (and occasional cravings for bacon sandwiches) while he tries to resign himself to the fact that ghosts are real and he now works for a supernatural detective agency. The spirits that the investigating team encounters are awesomely frightening, so fans of the macabre won't be disappointed. There's plenty of page-turning tension throughout the book, while Kester continues to be as endearing as ever. His first-ever foray into the world of dating is awkward but sweet, and I enjoy the continuing story lines involving the growing cast of secondary characters. Dr. Ribeiro's agency reminds me of a large family whose members are always getting on each other's nerves. Luckily, like family, they also have each other's backs when the spirits are closing in. Cleverly written, this series is one to welcome to your bookshelves. Now on to happily waiting for book three!

Good escapist read
Really getting rather fond of the bumbling Kester, protagonist of this series. The story tends to drag a bit with the quarrels and bantering the characters, but it finally builds a head of steam when the supernatural puzzle is solved.

Fun, Quirky Light Entertainment
This is the second book in the series featuring the team from Dr. Ribero’s Supernatural Detective Agency. These books are quirky and entertaining. Sometimes, that is exactly what I feel like reading. Kester is a likeable hero. He is the newest member of the team and the long lost son of Dr. Ribero. The team works on a shoestring out of a less than state of the art office in the Exeter area of England. The supernatural detective agencies are known by and often employed by the government, even as they are kept secret. The agency is called in to investigate a string of strange murders among elderly residents of a seaside community. Even worse, they have to work with a rival team. The story is fun, entertaining, and clever. It will not change your life, and it is not a book that our book group would read. The book ends with a very intriguing teaser for the next episode. Which I am sure that I will be reading.

Just as much fun to read as the first one
This is fantastic. Well written, interesting character development, interesting new characters, and a well paced storyline make this book at least as good as the first, if not better. I am going to buy the next in the series immediately because I really care about these characters and I need to know what happens next. Please keep these coming, Ms. Banks. I am truly enjoying them!

Unpretentious fun!
I loved the first book in this series, and was prepared to be disappointed by the second (as I too often have been). I didn’t need to worry. This book is delightful! The characters I loved in the first book are every bit as enjoyable, and even further developed. Kester, the main character, is indeed growing, and it is endearing rather than the contrived it could have so easily been. And the build up to a next installment seemed natural, and really left me hoping that Lucy Banks gets busy with book number three in this fun series!

Better than the best!
This is a very good book with a supernatural mystery! The reason I gave it a four star instead of five is because of certain characters that I feel are overly opinionated or constantly obstinate and the main character who is totally too insecure and self doubting! If the author would be just slightly more subtle with these two characters it would be a wonderful more relaxing read!

Great read
Well written and hard to put down. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next one. So refreshing to read good stories without x rated scenes.

Addictive and un-put-down-able
After having read The Case of the Green Dressed Ghost (the first book in the Dr Ribero’s Agency of the Supernatural series), and absolutely loving it, I couldn’t wait to get hold of this one.In The Case of the Deadly Doppelgänger, we welcome back old friends, and connect with new characters. I feel the existing ones are fleshed out a lot more and are richer for it. The new characters add an even sicklier, spookier nuance to the story. Mr. Onions is simply repulsive, as is his “hotel”, and Grace McCready gives me the heebie-jeebies from the word go (for good reason). Larry Higgin’s isn’t the most loveable of characters but kind of turns things around in the end.As with the first book in this series, I can honestly, once again say, that this is one of the best books I’ve ever read within this genre. It’s addictive and un-put-down-able, and I cannot wait to read the third, and last book in this brilliantly written series.

An excellent rip roaring read
I got into the first novel through Amazon Unlimited and purchased the second one as soon as it releaased. Is similar but yet so different to the Lockwood series from Jonathan Stroud and Lucy id coming up as one of the best in the business.

A bit gawky, but nice
Dr Ribero’s agency people continue as in the first book. Some silly arguments that seem awkwardly unrealistic, and stuck in a groove of being desperate for business. Kester himself seems to have grown just a tiny bit...not much but settling into his relationships. Can anyone really be that gormless and without a shred of self confidence? The tale itself is a bit adventurous and Kester is starting to strap on a pair, so let’s see what the next book brings. I would like to see some maturity from Mike and Serena, and see a bit more development of Pamela’s character.
