These are the softest "charcoal" sticks I've ever used
Great value for what you get, but boy oh boy are these things SOFT. I'd sooner classify these as "pastel sticks" cause even the "hard" sticks lay down such a thick layer. They also powder up a bunch, so you will have a LOT of dust on your paper if you're really going at it.

Very Nice
When I first opened the box, I got the same excited feeling as a kid opening a brand new box of crayons. Quite an assortment. Fun to use and experiment with on the right type of paper. Works especially well on neutral gray charcoal paper.
