I opened it as soon as it arrived and sure enough 2 stalks had already begun to sprout - about 3" long. Unfortunately the box it came in left it no place to grow but curl around the bulb. (This is NOT a kit - you will need your own pot and soil). I transplanted the bulb immediately and put it under a grow-light to try to force the stalks upright. Only one responded. When I went in further to see why I say that the second stalk was severed from the bulb. It wasn't going to grow at all. It's a shame Because the one stalk that is intact has at least 5 blooms on it. It's gorgeous, the colors so vivid. It would have been great with 10 flowers on the whole plant. Not ONE of them bloomed. they were rotten (3 of them) when they arrived and hoping they might survive I treated them with great care and according to directions. Later that week I bought 5 bulbs at Trader Joes for 7.99 each. They all bloomed beautifully. What a rip-off.
