A Guide to Jewish Prayer

Its a lot of information. Not necessarily a sit down and read book. It's more of a reference that oh need to know about this real quick type book.

A fascinating, comprehensive and totally accessible guide to the "mother" liturgy of the Western World. Steinsaltz covers every aspect of Jewish prayer spelling out the differences between individual and communal prayer, and the Sabbath, weekday and holiday liturgies. He provides insight into the reading of the scrolls and an explanation of the ritual objects of the synagogue. He also includes a history of the Siddur ( daily prayer book).This easily read work will inform, delight and surprise Jews of all levels of observance and will also serve as a excellent guide for non Jews who are curious about Judaism. The glossary alone is a priceless introduction to Hebrew and Aramaic terms. Delightful and informative, the Rabbi speaks across millennia.

As a Protestant Christians, though the book was a little redundant, it was informative and interesting.

I guess I was looking for a mini Siddur, and although theinformation inside is invaluable, as a returning Jew I wasdisappointed as I expected it to contain specific blessingsetc. yet I love Rabbi Adin Stensaltz works and treasurethem. I have since ordered a Siddur.

I learned more about Jewish prayer from this book than I have from my rabbi of 10 years.

All of his books are treasures. I've managed to purchase most of his books over the past 25 or so years. The set I'm most proud to own and study is his THE TALMUD The Steinsaltz Edition published by Random House.

Fabulous! Easy to read, easy to comprehend & understand & very comprehensive. This book is a must for anyone interested in prayer, Jewish or not.

Good for Geruts and Baal Tu' shauvah's (returning Halachic Jews). Judaism 101.

Not quite what l thought it would be but informative and l learnt quite a lot.
