This thing is razor sharp out of the box. Cold Steel boxed the blade in a cardboard sleeve with oil coating the blade so no issues with rust. Very nice weight and high quality overall. The leather sheath it comes with is okay; not the highest quality but good platform for customization. There is no belt loop and the sheath has a snap to keep the knife secured. Comes with some paracord to make a loop for your wrist. Overall, I am very pleased with the quality.

CPM 3V and COLD STEEL are well known. I finally had a chance to test this out during camping. Tried to use it to split firewood... didn't happen even with batoning it gets wedged in and stuck. Several big guys tried didn't budge. Just know that in blade competitions they use mostly pine wood which is a lot softer than hard firewood for camping. There's not enough weight in the blade to split the fire logs, this is where it loses one star. However, the CPM 3V held up to its name the edge didn't even glint stayed sharp enough to still cut paper. This got it 4 stars because I tried log splitting with the "legendary kabar bk3". The bk3 edge did not hold up (glints and dulling and got stuck the same way despite its special coating on the blade.

For a knife so expensive. The handle shouldn’t be loose.

I purchased this blade for the purpose of weed maintenance at my campground. The edge is now chipped using it on tall weeds with an approximate thickness of 3/8”. Also, the overgrowth was living and fairly pliable. I don’t think this should have chipped after one use.

Please do not buy this if you have evil intentions. I am sure that this would serve mostly any malicious purpose That you could come up with. Very well packaged, extremely sharp. Only the future can tell if I will be able to maintain it in this condition

You won’t find a better heavy chopping blade for virtually any purpose this knife is suited for. It is expensive but the materials and ergonomics are the best I’ve tried for my hand size and overall performance. It balances well and comes extremely sharp from the factory. Disappointed that this knife didn’t have a Kydex sheath. 4 stars for the included crappy leather sheath. Real bummer. Oh well; it’s still a tremendous blade/tool.

I bought four. The perfect blade for these turbulent times. Fits perfectly between the seat and the seat belt lock. When you hold it, you’ll know where the money went.
