Well, I had a Pi Camera Module 3, and that ribbon cable is a nightmare. So I figured "I can probably write my code and test it on my PC instead of trying to figure out how to replace those tiny connector cable-clips on the Pi board..." I was right. I bought it for raspberry pi, but testing things from the Mac is sometimes more convenient. You just plug the camera in and quick time and photo booth are ready to go. Raspberry pi was almost as fast. But you don't use the rpicamera utilities, since it is a usb camera. You use v412-ctl. One downside is the usb connector is usb-a.
