Not really water shoes but fabulous sandals

My top straps are almost too short & the heel strap doesn't make it. Is it a good idea to move the hook strips closer to the loops strips by sewing?

They are a snug fit, but I'm not sure about that one. But take them to a shoe repair outfit to see what they could do
