## Description

The perfect escape ramp in the event that a pet falls into your pool or spa. Pet can scamper up the perforated ramp to safety. Simply keep ramp tied it to the side of your pool (hardware and rope included). The lightweight, ribbed plastic ramp floats atop the water until needed. Ramp simply flips out of the water when not needed. Skamper-Ramp is made from 8mm, chemical- and UV-resistant, recyclable, box-corrugated, PP (polypropylene). For this reason the ramp will not yellow over time. The ramp comes complete with nylon rope, nuts, bolts and wing strips. Comes complete with installation instructions. Not recommended for soft-sided-vinyl, above-ground, non-permanent structures.

Review: One Star - Since this expensive item did not arrive it is impossible to judge its merit..........
Review: Terrific product with the addition of some rope (floats optional) - Despite a few drawbacks, this pet ramp for swimming pools is a definite winner. My five-month-old Westie (10-11 pounds) had no difficultly learning to use the ramp with the addition of some rope for traction. My sons have dogs which are slightly larger (20-25 pounds) which will be using it too, so I felt installing the Skamper Ramp with the extension (Super Scamper Ramp) was the best idea. Here are the concerns: (1) It’s slippery. As mentioned in other reviews, the ramp is incredibly slippery. I added rope to the sections of the ramps with exposed holes. (I will need to replace the nylon rope with polypropylene rope later this year since chlorine will degrade the nylon rope.) I added the rope to the ramp before installing to the pool. Without the rope, a pet would have as much traction as if I had place a cookie sheet for a ramp. EDITED 5/24 - I found when dogs approached the ramp from the side, the middle section without rope was a serious problem. I added rope (blue and white) shown in photo 11. (2) Unclear directions. While there was some effort to give detailed installation directions, the details do not go far enough. And I might add, if you are one to not read directions, it will take you longer to complete the installation for a few reasons listed below. (In the following when I refer to “rope”, I am referring to the rope used to keep the ramp mounted to the swimming pool.) (a) When installing the ramp for a pool with an overhanging edge/coping, you will use the set of four holes about six inches from the edge of the ramp. There is a drawing of how the rope should loop through the four holes. The drawing is correct. It is confusing as to why there is a recessed slot for the rope under the ramp which is NOT used when the rope is looped correctly. (b) Do NOT use any of the four holes closest to the edge of the ramp. These are referred in the directions as the “upper holes”. (These holes are used when the ramp is installed to a pool with no overhang/coping.) (c) A float may need to be added beneath the ramp to prevent the end of the ramp from sinking too deep with heavier pets. For my 10-pound Westie, I installed two floats on the pool ramp and one float on the hot tub ramp. Without the floats, the ramp edge moves too deeply causing a steep angle when a pet is climbing out of the pool. If a pet were distressed, the angle would be too great. The ramp in the pool has two added floats. The farthest edge of the ramp rests 0.75 inches below the water line while the one in the hot tub ramp rests 1.5 inches below. I found when my dog was swimming in the pool, she had enough forward motion that two floats kept the ramp at a comfortable angle. The hot tub is such a small area, a pet needs to be able to make contact with the ramp without much effort, thus the end of the ramp is slightly deeper. This causes a slightly steeper angle when a pet is exiting, but the float prevents it from being too extreme. While noodles can be cut and used in the place of floats, noodles will degrade over time in chlorine swimming pools. I recommend using a marine grade float with polypropylene rope. Polypropylene rope is used as dividers in larger swimming pools. EDITED 5/24/18 - After working with two dogs and having them use the ramp from different directions, I found the floats kept the ramp from being low enough in the water to allow the pets to climb the ramp from the side. I REMOVED the floats and it helped. This requires the ramp be snug to the coping overhanging the pool. As soon as I am able, I will include these photos: (1) Installation directions (2) Bottom of ramp. (3) Close up of slot for rope which is not to be used. (4) Bottom of ramp with floats. (5) Float (6) Top side of ramp installed. (I left extra rope on each end since the rope will stretch and need adjusting.) (7) Side-view of pool ramp. (8) 10-pound Westie standing on pool ramp. (9) Westie making a leap from ramp. (10) Position of two installed ramps.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ .OK for cats
*by F***Y on 27 June 2021*

The holes haven’t been punched out as in the photos, and it’s impossible to do yourself .OK for cats with their small fine claws, but a dog would have issues getting any purchase on it to pull themselves out. We are happy with the product as we only have a cat.
