And what I didn't realise at the time was that there is an enclosed c.d provided with this handbook of the handpan. I am following the authors advice regarding learning a little bit each day rather than just one long session per week, for example.. Text and graphics are clear

It was an amazing book but I bought it for my son for Christmas not sure if he has used it yet but was very happy to receive it

A very good explanatory book that is teaching me well

This book could be clearer at times and could have more and deeper explanations but it is not a hard book to understand by any means.But the more ways to explain the same thing the better.So if you can find other training sources don't hesitate, but this is a good first step, even decent enough without the instrument itself.

Very good quality information for the beginner!

The book is based on music theory, but extremely poorly explained. The CD doesn't work, you need to use it in a pc and download an app that can play older video files. The CD contains only info on some hand hitting techniques, ie hit the same note over and over but using different fingers. If you are seeking information on how to play a handpan, scales, tunes or simple ideas of how to play, dont buy this. Watch videos on YouTube with sound advice and examples to follow, these lots out there who teach the basics and you'll be a wizard at the handpan in days.
