I have French windows that open out. The frame is 18 x 46 (w x h).** A: I purchased this screen for my sister's apartment. She uses the screen vertically, because the window slides horizontally. It is not a french window. Her window opens to about 25 inches wide, the screen can then be placed in the opening and adjusted vertically to fill the vertical opening. The the window has to be closed from 25 inches wide to 18 inches wide, so that it presses against the screen in the horizontal direction.Since you have a french window it appears to me that you will have no method of adjusting the screen or any possible small gaps in the horizontal direction.Are far as using the adjustable screen in the vertical direction, the upper portion of the screen will tend to slip down (however, closing the window horizontally against the screen helps hold the upper screen in position a little bit). In addition, the upper portion of the screen overlaps the lower portion of the screen, so by placing the upper portion of the screen towards the inside (with lower portion of the screen towards the outside, a thin wooden stick can be placed in between the upper portion of the screen and the bottom window sill to prop the upper in position. Further, if you need to have the screen mount flush against the window frame, this adjustable screen will not be able to be flush against the window frame. You could have the lower portion flush against the window frame, but due to the overlapping, the upper portion of the screen would be about 3/8 of inch away from the window frame.I hope that the above is hlepful. **Q: If I want to order two of these bad boys, is there a way to consolidate shipping?
