It works if you know what you're doing!
It worked for what I needed!I had replaced the transmission/engine in my 2014 scion tc and had also done a full service on the transmission before putting it in the car.I needed a scan tool with high enough diag level to reset/relearn the transmission control module values along with writing the new transmissions compensation code to the ecu/tcm.I didn't use the software given due to trust issues with foreign softwares on my laptop. Instead I used a slightly older version through a remote desktop that you can access by looking up on YouTube or a Google search with the title "how to get techstream in 5 mins"Worked well! Can't beat the price.

CONFIRMED: cable v2.0.4 will NOT work on 2004 Lexus LS430...use v1.4.1 instead!!!
The seller's listing states:" Support models: Toyota/Lexus models 1996-2018"But, after trying everything possible I emailed the company and they confirmed that the v2.0.4 cable will not properly interface with my 2004 Lexus LS430.They told me to return it and purchase their cable with older firmware, v1.4.1. I did return it, and I did order a different cable--but from another seller because Diagking wasted hours of my life trying to get the wrong cable to work!I also ended up throwing away Diagking's software. It was basically a bunch of stuff thrown onto a disc without proper folder names and organization. I watched the included video first and installed Techstream following it, but I later figured out that it did not apply to the Techstream version that was on the disc. What a WASTE OF CUSTOMER's TIME! The driver that they want you to install is just the standard ftdichip driver, but they renamed it with their 'LUCKYBUY' name and have you create a program files folder called 'LUCKYBUY.' Totally unnecesary. Also, the registry hack they require is an unnecessary way of doing the install.I found practically every version of Techstream available free online, including the latest v14 from Techstream's website in the UK. After trying several in both 32 and 64 bit, I kept Techstream v6 because it worked as a sweet setup for me with along with virtual WinXPMode on a 64bit laptop that I did not mind using "in the field."Was all this worth getting to add a new master smart key on my 15 year old car? The lack of coherent instructions, the wrong instructions on disc, the abundance of incorrect instructions found on the internet, and lastly: the wrong firmware version cable (that had me looking for fault elsewhere) caused this project to dominate several weeks of my off-work life. No, I would not have done this if I knew how much time it was going to take to make successful!

Works great
I received the cable and CD, unfortunately I do not have a CD drive so I emailed support and they promptly responded with instructions in 3 hrs.Even before they responded, I googled and was able to find v18 Tech stream software and the necessary drivers and instructions (on Google and YouTube)The instructions online were the same as sent by the vendor btw.Installed it on a win10 home 64bit laptop with zero issues, and it's working great. I'm not sure what the bad reviews are about? Yes it takes a few steps to installed and for those who are not savvy with computers the vendors offers to remote install, that's how tech support works guys, there is no conspiracy hereGreat productđ great vendor, I can access all of my vehicles data, program tpms, keys, what not.

works
I have had a hard time with other suppliers of techtream and usb cable due to lack of attention to detail but this supplier charged more. I hesistated and only bought due to their ability to get on your pc and handle the problem during install. I managed to get this one installed ok myself. I bought it for a keyfob programming on a lexus gx460 and all worked well. Still had an issue with .net intallation but did not seem to matter. The patches and drivers were installed after clicking on the icons as instructed in the fairly easy to follow pdf manual provided. Just read the manual and do what it says. I used the V18. There are many other files on the CD but just use the ones it tells you to.

Great Tech Support Makes The Difference
tl/dr; Great (and patient) tech support got me going after a couple false starts.Got the standard disc and, since my laptop has no CD drive, copied the files from my desktop to my laptop. First problem was that I couldnât connect to the vehicle. I got a pop up that said a critical update was required, and there was no way to dismiss the pop up. An email to tech support got a response within minutes recommending a reinstall. With that done, another problem cropped up. This problem was that, when connected to the vehicle, several of the selections, including the UTILITY function, were not available. This was the specific capability I was looking for since I want to add another remote key and customize the windows and light timings. Sent another email and they had a link for a different Techstream version to me within a few more minutes. I thought I was home free at this point, but ended up being unable to extract the archive. My RAR extractor would freeze about half way through. Another email and they asked me to set up teamviewer so they could remotely install the new version of Techstream.I know that there have been comments about teamviewer = malware, but itâs not always true. Iâm the âtech supportâ for my family and have been using teamviewer to remotely control/maintain my familyâs computers for years. Itâs not the tool. Itâs how itâs used.Anyway, teamviewer was already installed and I know what needed to be done, so I followed their activities keystroke by keystroke. They performed the necessary work and nothing more. There was no snooping or unnecessary reconfiguration of any computer settings. Techstream now works exactly as it should. Call me satisfied.
