The fireplace I installed the DM1042 was built in 2005, and had a Heatilator Fireplace with a sliding screen on a track and the door popped right into the track. We didn't have to do anything but remove the screen and replace it with the door. There are some videos on YouTube that show you how to install them that were quite helpful. You might check there.
