CirKa N64 Controller: Grape Purple for Nintendo

Okay, if you are looking for a controller that is just like the original, just get the original. No third-party controller will ever be as good as it. As for this controller, I purchased it mainly to review it being as I already own four official Nintendo 64 controllers. If you are looking for a cheap controller for a friend to use when you play then this is what you want. Don't purchase this if you are looking for your own personal controller, find a used official one and buy that instead. This controller is set up like the original controller, but there are major differences in the feeling of it. The buttons are much "clickier" and feel new, while the joystick doesn't feel quite right. It requires a bit more force to push and feels a bit cheap. Upon opening it up the motherboard is slightly smaller and not as well put together (I actually broke it, I can no longer move right while using the joystick). As I said before, this is perfect for friends who don't play that often but as a replacement for someone who uses the system a lot, just look for a used official one. Also the color is more Midnight Blue then Grape.

Big N64 guy back in the day and I saved my old N64 from my mother's garage sale and brought it home. I use it occasionally but one thing I had noticed was how loose my joysticks were on my old controllers from decades of use. I got this control for just that reason a fresh new joystick. All the buttons and Weight feel great like an original controller. But this Joystick is MEGA Stiff. I cannot remember if the original joysticks were this stiff but this was making it hard to play Mario Cart and Star fox. I will update when I have had time to break this controller in officially but I am not sure how long it will take haha the youngest controllers I have besides these two new ones is from 1996.

joystick does not function as well as the originals, but who knows if any new controllers will ever be like the originals. Works well enough to play, you just have to know how this joystick is a little different. Great color. All of the other buttons function to perfection. I can easily operate with/without my rumblepak and memory card. Good length on the chord as well.

Works great, had a N64 with some of the weird Madden controllers, wanted normal ones, so ordered a pair of these (Grape + Watermelon) and they work like a charm, haven't seen much use, probably never really will, but I imagine they'll last unless something catastrophic happens to them.

Really tight joystick.It actually squeaks!It's hard to adjust to when making slow movements or exacting aims.

Replaced my wife's controller which was an original. This one works great. Perhaps too good... now my wife wins all the time.

Cheaply made. But adequately takes the quick replacement role at a cheap price. Don't buy if you're looking to get a permanent. Really isn't worth it.

Kind of stiff.

It was nice having a brand new controller and I really liked the color.My husband wanted to put the outer casing on the guts of an official controller, but the way they are designed inside, the guts of the Nintendo controller wouldn't fit in the case properly. I guess he didn't like the feel of the buttons/stick?He has an aversion to third party controllers so these ended up not getting much use. I think he sold them to his buddy.If you don't have controllers, these would probably do the trick just fine.

The controller is as fresh as you'd expect, the buttons even need worked in. It feels good in the hand, for an N64 controller, and is very responsive. The thumbstick however is different. Running around is great, but if you get in to precise aiming you're not going to be pleased. Goodluck playing Goldeneye. Maybe mine is just different somehow but this thumbstick issue severely limited my use of my N64 games when I expected something as fresh and responsive as an original Nintendo 64 controller. Don't do that. It is adequate, nothing more. Would I buy it again though? Yes.

The joystick on this thing doesn't work well. It's too sensitive and has a bit of a deadzone in the middle. Otherwise, the controller feels good, but that joystick still kills it for me. Not a great deal.
