Leather & Lark: The Ruinous Love Trilogy

I loved this book. I love BW sense of humour. I love the characters—I relate in many ways to Lark (not in the multiple deleter skills). I will read the third book in this trilogy as soon as it comes out. Whatever she writes I’ll buy because her storytelling and writing is excellent

Loved this book. Very good story (except for the extra chapter at the end, I though it was quite unnecessary... and somewhat out of the character expectations for the MMC)

Leather & Lark is an absolute triumph and a must-read for anyone who loved Butcher & Blackbird. Brynne Weaver has a brilliant way of mixing dark, gritty themes with incredible humour and heart. This story follows Lachlan and Lark, and their "marriage of convenience" is handled perfectly. The chemistry between them is electric from the very first page, and I loved how their relationship shifted from tense bickering to a deep, fierce loyalty. It is rare to find a book that makes you laugh out loud while also keeping you on the edge of your seat, but this story manages it effortlessly. The pacing of the novel is spot on, and I found myself flying through the chapters because the plot was so engaging. Lachlan is such a standout character—charming, witty, and incredibly protective—while Lark is strong and relatable. The dark elements are intense, but they never overshadow the emotional growth of the characters. Overall, this is a fantastic sequel that feels even more personal and high-stakes than the first. If you want a romance that is twisty, funny, and deeply romantic, you really cannot go wrong with this one!

Book review: Leather & Lark is Brynne Weaver doing what Brynne Weaver does best: taking morally questionable people, giving them a love story, and somehow making me emotionally invested in absolute chaos. This time, we’re back in the world of assassins, secrets, and people who really should not be this attractive given their line of work. And yet… here we are. Lark is sharp, layered, and far more complicated than she first appears. Lachlan Kane is exactly the kind of man who looks like he hasn’t smiled since 2009 and would absolutely kill a man for looking at you wrong—romantically and literally. Naturally, this combination is dangerous for everyone’s peace of mind. The tension between them? Delicious. The banter? Sharp enough to qualify as a weapon. The slow unfolding of trust, attraction, and emotional vulnerability underneath all the blood, trauma, and controlled chaos? Surprisingly tender. One of the things Brynne Weaver does so well is making you laugh in the middle of absolute darkness, and this book is no exception. I should not be giggling while reading about assassins with emotional damage, but here we are. That said, this one didn’t quite hit me with the same chaotic, unhinged obsession level as Butcher & Blackbird. It’s still incredibly enjoyable, but it leans a little more emotionally grounded and slightly less feral (for me personally), which is why it lands just shy of a full five stars. Still, the romance is strong, the characters are compelling, and the world is just as addictive as ever. 4.5 stars for the angst, the tension, the morally grey disaster humans in love, and Brynne Weaver once again convincing me that murder-adjacent romance is absolutely my brand. Als je revenge boeken wilt gaan lezen met smut, romance, banter, heel veel humor, wat trigger warnings die juist een uitnodiging zijn om verder te lezen en waarbij de bad guy uiteindelijk krijgen wat ze verdienen met heerlijk personages dan is dit zeker een boek dat je moet gaan lezen.

‼️ this is a dark romcom so be aware of the menu of triggers at the front of the book‼️ I read the physical and listened to it on audible (recomended‼️) And Brynne did it again! This was such an amazing Book I couldn't put it down! I laughed so hard with this one and I lived the banter between Lark and Lachlan😍 And the end scene🫠👏 If you haven't read it yet you really need to start today!!
