GEARWRENCH84935 1/2-Inch Drive Impact Socket Set Deep Metric, 29-Piece

I really like GearWrench, I feel that there tools are of excellent quality - maybe between Craftsman Professional and Matco - and this the most complete set I've found. The sockets are thick and heavy and seem to be of good quality, but the black oxide finish is easily scrathced. Cosmetics aside, I feel that these sockets should provide for years of use and abuse. The perfect starter kit for a mechanic building up quality tools. The best part is they are warrented forever!So why only 4 stars? I don't like the way they feel compared to the heavyweights, Snapon and Mac. There wrenches are awesome and on par with any major tool brand and I'd recommend them to anyone, but these impact sockets just don't feel like they have the same level of build to them.Really awesome kit for a starting mechanic, and I'm very happy with my purchase, but for the older and more seasoned professionals out there, these impacts might not be up to your standards.It includes the sizes 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, and 36mm.

Gearwrench's deep well sockets are NOT deep well. The 6-point broaching inside the socket is not much deeper (or not deeper at all) than with the shallow sockets. The rest of the socket is a narrower hole. As a mechanic, this can be a big problem for me - You can not use these sockets in low-clearance areas, as a nut you are loosening will push the socket outward and result in your ratchet being jammed against something. These sockets only engage over about 1/2 of the length of my deep lug nuts on my vehicle. This is incredibly dissapointing.I am puzzled as to why gearwrench does not make this clear in their advertising. I assume that they did this for strength reasons, maybe so that they could use a cheaper metal to construct the sockets, but this really shows that whomever approved this design is very out of touch with the service industry. I have used sockets from most major manufacturers and none of them have this issue. Even if you buy a cheap craftsman, deep well MEANS deep well.I will have to choose a different brand of impact sockets for some my work. Oh well.

Very nice set. Not only do the sockets have the sizes stenciled on, which I expect to wear off quickly, they are also stamped with deep, large, easy to read numbers (something this older mechanic can appreciate).The quality is better than expected and I anticipate they will last the rest of my lifetime at the least. One big plus is it appears the interior shank is large enough to slip over those bolts that also have protruding studs, a sign of a quality socket, imo.The best part is, should any happen to fail, my local NAPA sells Gearwrench tools and can replace them free of charge.Two thumbs up.

These are great sockets. I saw other reviews stating that they are not deep enough. They are a great design. The socket portion stops a inch or so in side the socket, that is so you can start a bolt in a hole. (The nut or bolt won't fall all the way inside the socket). I promise that's a feature you will love the first time you need it. Oh if it matters, I own a shop and work on cars every day. So.... I know good tools. A+ in my opinion.

I am so glad that I bought this wonderful set and like I said earlier on I always like my tools in the Box so that when I am done working I can safely keep them back in the Box.SnapOn tools are so overpriced and trust me with GearWrench I still get the job done with ease.DD.

Just great tools! For the price, you will not find a better deal. Sizes are both laser etched, and stamped in. I just cant complain about anything other than there is nothing to complain about with these. Oh yeah, the case is extremely durable too.

This set is of a great quality. Just as good if not better sockets sets that I had previously purchased for hundreds of $$ more. Will update if something changes, but as of now couldn't be happy with the product or the price!

If you're like me you already have all the SAE sizes and didn't need a combo kit.This set covers the full range of metric sizes that I'm sure I will ever need. The quality seems very good and they come in a nice case. I thought for the price, this was a good deal.
