It won't take long for them to get the idea of not pulling. Then you can attach to the ring on the top for regular walking. **Q: what size is the neck? is it adjustable? My dogs neck is 30" and chest is 43"** A: There is sizing information given in the additional pictures found under the picture of the harness. They do not give neck sizes in the sizing chart, but rather, the harness is sized according to the chest measurement. However there are adjustments on the harness for the part that fits over the head. According to the sizing chart the XL harness will fit a dog with a 32-42 inch chest. Given that your dog has a 43 inch chest, I am not sure that these harnesses will fit. I had originally ordered a small for one of my Boston terriers because his chest size was at the upper limit of the small and at the lower limit of the medium. Since he is an escape artist, I was concerned about getting a harness that gave him too much wiggle room. Unfortunately, I had to return the small and buy a medium because the small was uncomfortably tight, and while I didn't want the harness to be too loose, I also didn't want it to be uncomfortable or overly restrictive. The medium harness was able to be adjusted for a good fit. These are awesome harnesses, but, in my opinion, one should order up a size if the chest measurement is at the upper limit of the range given for a particular size. Unfortunately, since your dog's chest size is above the upper limit for an XL harness, these harnesses may not work for your dog. **Q: What are the neck sizes??? My dog is a dachsund mix with a very large neck relative to his chest. His neck is 13 inches, and his chest is 16.** A: My poodle is the opposite . Small neck big chest . I found this harness to be adjustable and easy to fit **Q: The pictures look like it should be adjustable at the neck end, but the one I received is not. What’s up with that?** A: I had to go on the Internet and look for directions. We love it!! *by A***R on September 10, 2019* I was looking for a harness with a front ring and a handle on the back since my old one doesn't have those. After searching, comparing and watching a husky mom's youtube review and I decided to go for True love (was comparing with Ruffwear/ Chai and was convinced this is the best one among 3 brands). It is much lightweight than my previous "Blueberry" harness and instantly I found this really reduces pulling a lot!! The front ring and a small pocket to hold your tag are some nice features. The handle on the back is really useful when it comes to an emergency, such as chasing a squirrel, run into a dog. I feel like it is a bit stiff at first but after a couple of uses, it has become much softer and very easy to put on and take off. Some dogs owners mentioned it doesn't fit. I had the same doubt at first as well. It is a little bit hard to adjust but if you pull harder and wiggle inside the neck area and you'll able to adjust it just fine. After a few adjustments, I was able to fit perfectly for my two dogs. Milky, chow mix, 65 lbs, neck 18" chest 30", wears Large purple and the color purple is so pretty. Ginger, 38 lbs, chow mix, neck 16", chest 24", wears Medium hot pink and she looks gorgeous. I also attached a poop bag holder on their back(ZippyPaws brand) and it looks so blend in on the harness. I also tied a fabric flower (search fabric flower on youtube and you can make your own) on their neck area and they look so pretty. This is the best harness with a very reasonable price.
