The Elf off the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition Gone Bad

I thought this was a humorous take on the Elf On The Shelf. And yes, this book is for the older crowd and not for young readers. Maybe more suited for teens and adults.

So we are big elf on the shelf fanatics. My daughter was on amazon and came across this book. Not even thinking to read the reviews, which I was sorry for after, I bought it thinking it would be a great addition to our elves on he shelf. Of course my nine year old opened and read it before I even set eyes on it. Horribly disappointed that amazon even put this on sight without a big flashing warning sign "for adults only". This book is basically an adult version of elf on the shelf. All content is for adults(sexual innuendos, drinking,etc....). Great book to give adults a laugh,but horrific for kids. Not recommended for children... Only recommended for adults

Filled with funny antics for the adult who wants the lighter side of the elf magic. Provides a number of "naughty" antics of the green elf off the shelf. Make sure not to have it around those that have the original Elf on the Shelf story, as it will ruin the holiday magic for the little ones. Not for children

It is a fun book with even gunner ideas for our "Bob", as my daughter is getting older. My husband just loved the book and ideas. It has him trying to outdo the books ideas, and now he is a part of the fun!

From all the reviews I read, I figured this book would have a very inappropriate sense of humor, but it was the opposite. It was just some mild adult humor or maybe I have a very inappropriate mindset, whatever the case may be. I honestly expected the humor to be very crude. I also don't understand why the parents freaked out about the book in the other reviews, when it is clearly obvious that it isn't made for kids since it is a parody. So don't read it to your kids and if you didn't know, then look through it before hand, I do that with my students. One very positive thing is that you do get some great ideas from the book to put your elf in naughty situations.

Gave this as a gag gift in an adult gift exchange. Bought a green elf on the shelf knock off doll separately to give with it. Everyone thought it was hilarious and got a huge kick out of it.

I am so upset about this product. I wanted te green elf that is suposed to go with the book, but this does not come with an elf at all. we got the elf on the shelf last year for one of our kids and wanted a second elf and the book would be good for adults and the green elf could just show up with the other one. What makes me really mad is i am going to have to pay for shipping which is half what the damn book cost me to send it back. This would have been perfect if it had the green elf with it. i am very disappointed that the description did not specify that elf is not included and saved me the trouble for buying this from the begining. I am a very unhappy customer right now and will be calling Amazon to let them know.

Make sure you read this carefully! This is for adults! Very funny for adults.. Not appropriate for children!

My grandchildren loved it they was so well behaved worked a treat It isn't cheap but every morning it was good fun looking for what the elf was up too..

Terrible. My children waited for The Elf off the Shelf! But it was ONLY a BOOK! $ 42 per book?

Bought in error not realising there wasadult versions! Discovered reading aloud to children.

The book is very funny , we plan to have a bit of a joke with our teenage son whilst our 6year old son is looking for the real elf on the shelf. I now just need to find a green elf to place around the house being naughty. delivery was quick and well packaged, no problems. :-)
