Dimex Low and Medium Pile Carpet Office Mat Chair Mat, 45" x 53" (C521003J)

This is my second mat that I’ve purchased. I bought it previously 5 years ago during the height of COVID and working from home, so the mat got a lot of use from me at the desk. It ended up getting stress points from where I rolled around on it in my chair and caused the plastic to split a lot over time. I got a second one since I just want the same shape of the carpet to match the discoloration from where the old one was, but also because it was sturdy for how long it lasted and endured.

The product is described as is and definitely works for low pile carpet. Slight curling on the edges but has stayed pretty flat. Perfect size for a small-medium office desk. 5 stars in my book! Unfortunately, moving my office setup to a room with slightly thicker carpet was not the play. The wheels of my chair have now created divots into the mat and rolling is near impossible. This is not a fault of the product but of my own hubris thinking it would work on thicker carpet. Either way, highly recommend this mat, just make sure you purchase different office mats for different carpet styles.

This is a good mat for the price. Why the four stars? Unlike my last mat, this one seems a little too soft and it indents where the office chair rollers sit. It's not too bad, you have to give a little extra umph to get your chair to move. Still, the price was right and your chair don't roll away from you. :-)

This mat was the exact size dimensionally that I needed to slip beneath and in front of my computer desk. It arrived tightly rolled, but was fairly easy to unroll and lay out, and it quickly assumed a flat profile once it was arranged on the carpeted floor. It allows me to roll my office chair to and away from my desk with ease, rather than having to struggle to get the wheels to roll over the semi-shag carpeting. I like it very much!

I bought this mat over a year ago and I am still regretful about the purchase. The main reason for the one star rating is the unbearable chemical odor. When I first opened it I figured the plastic smell would fade after a week or two of airing out but here I am more than twelve months later and it still stinks up the entire room. It is a strong sour plastic scent that is honestly nauseating if I stay in the office too long with the door closed. Aside from the smell the actual performance is poor as well. It is supposed to be for low pile carpet but my chair leaves deep indentations in the plastic within minutes of sitting down. Once those divots are there it is almost impossible to roll the chair without physically standing up and repositioning it. It feels like I am constantly fighting to move even just a few inches. The edges also do not stay flat and I have tripped on the corners more than once because they tend to curl up slightly over time. I have tried putting heavy books on the ends to flatten them out but nothing seems to work permanently. It just feels like a cheap piece of plastic that was not designed to handle the weight of a standard office chair. I really wanted this to work to protect my floor but the combination of the permanent stench and the lack of durability makes it a total waste of money. I would strongly suggest looking for a higher quality polycarbonate mat instead of this one if you value your nose and your ability to move your chair. Avoid this at all costs.

I purchased this to replace the one I had before which had cracked to the point it was pinching my toes and the spikes were coming through the top. I looked for a better one than I had before but seemed to be getting nowhere. I decided to replace it with the same thing I had purchased before, since I knew I liked it and it lasted 2 & 1/2 years before it started cracking. I am very sad to say this one is nowhere near as good as the previous one (supposed to be exactly the same). It is very think so it curls up on the side. The "spikes" are small and stubby so it doesn't stay on place well. How can they sell this as the same one I ahd before. I am so disappointed.

i purchased this mat in aug 2022, and it finally started cracking now, almost 4 years later. It was used frequently as well, and it held up better than any other plastic mat ive had in the past. All the other mats Ive had would either tear up the carpet, or crack right down the middle, and become garbage within 2 years. They were also almost double the price. Now that i need a new one, i realized how long this one lasted, so i immediately looked through my purchase history and was happy to see its still being sold. Just purchased a 2nd one, and highly recommend it especially if you are someone that spends a lot of time in a computer chair, and have experienced how annoying some of these chair mats can be.

✅ I waited to review this to see how it would hold up, and I can confidently say that this mat is well worth the price. I believe I paid about $30 and change over a year ago (about 16/17 months), and i haven’t had any issues. ✅The little weighted dents that are left in the carpet from the wheels, magically disappear in a couple hours. I have between light and medium ply carpet. I’ve moved this Mat to a couple different areas in my office and it has held up very well. It’s been in its current spot for about 7 or 8 months, and every once in awhile, I’ll have to pick it up to vacuum underneath it, (little paper crumbs seems to find a way under there🤔) and it’s protected the carpet magnificently. 🤯 ⏳As someone who has spent an embarrassing amount of time scrolling through reviews for various mats, searching for the cheapest, most reliable, carpet mat to buy, 🏆I’m very happy with my choice. You won’t find any other mat as cheap and as reliable, so 🛑 scrolling and trust me on this. This certainly is a good mat for putting over a 1 inch high pile carpet to ensure the desk chair casters roll easy and the carpet is protected. So far it's doing a great job! The size is just right, though it could be another 2 inches wider to be perfect for me.

On carpet for swivel office chair.

I've had this item for a little over a week now and so far, I can say that it works really well with extremely heavy office chairs. It has very sturdy spikes that help grip to low pile carpets. My chair is very heavy and the wheels leave dent marks on the mat. Although, this goes away after a few hours once you roll the chair to a different position. It's quite heavy and curls on the end after initially unpacking it. However, I just set some weights on the corners and it's fully flat now. Overall, 5 stars. Does the job. I will update this comment in the future if I notice cracking.
