I also bought a brand new battery. The receiver works fantastic. Its a very robust unit with a very loud alarm. The sensor is more delicate compared to the receiver & I wish it was the other way round. My new battery didn't last 2 minutes & realized that I also needed to buy a 9v battery charger because standard chargers don't facilitate a 9v battery - so, more expense. When changing the battery I found it really difficult not to snap the very thin wiring from the circuit board but inevitably it happened. Then I decided to buy a soldering iron to repair it ( more expense) but didn't do it. I burnt calories off procrastinating whether to repair the broken or buy new because a sensor by itself was as costly as the receiver & sensor as a package + wondering if a new one would break as well while still waiting for my camera to go back online, which it didn't.In the end I just bought another sensor. To top that stress I had to return THREE defective battery chargers, 2 from Amazon & one from ebay. My next stress was where to place the sensor where theives couldn't notice the red light & try to steel it but I eventually found a suitable place for it and secured it. I also bought an extra 9v battery, expecting the cold weather to wear the current one down but so far it hasn't. I am lost witout the reliability of my camera but knowing the sensor does successfully trigger the alarm is reassurring. I have it next to me at night & if my son jumps over the fence the indoor receiver is triggered nice & loud.I WOULD prefer a more robust sensor with stronger wiring. But so far its working good. I intend to repair/solder the first sensor & place it in another part of the garden.To further weatherproof it, I enclosed it in one of those black microwaveable throw away containers.
