reasonable
Not at all what I expected. Not sure if English is the author’s first language but contains quite a few grammatical errors. More like a book informing potential doctors of their anticipated lifestyle whilst working in the field. Not really patient stories as stated. Bit boring in places so skimmed those areas.

A wonderful book!
Throughly deserving of five stars, this book is a great read. There’s lots of insights about being a doctor and also a good range of accounts of different patients. There’s also a good amount of medical information that is both interesting and which adds to the accounts of the patients treated. I would definitely recommend this book!

What a fun read!
The author did an excellent job sharing her most memorable experiences as a doctor and explaining each complex medical scenario along the way. In each chapter she struck a balance between insight and humour, but what stood out to me the most were the heartfelt moments between her and the patients. If you want to see both the scientific and human side of medicine, this book is for you!

I highly Re commend it
This book is truly captivating. Exploring the perspectives of a doctor, a viewpoint we typically encounter only as patients, was incredibly interesting. The narratives shed light on the challenges doctors encounter, and the inclusion of medical terminology added a significant educational aspect. Every story vividly portrays the challenging decisions and unforeseen moments of the doctor's journey through the challenges of the healthcare system. The writer skillfully employs humor to convey key points, making it an enjoyable read. I highly recommend it.

Entertaining, enticing, and educational
very enjoyable to read, both in terms of content and stile. the sentences are flowing nicely and the content meanders with artful ease between medical information and the authors' personal thoughts and impressions. what probably attracted me most to the book: that the author's deeply felt care and empathy for the people, the "patients", is brightly shining through in all the stories .

An excellent read, written with compassion and humour.
This book struck me as an updated version of The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and, like its predecessor, it recounts real-life fascinating tales of patients, their conditions and their treatments. Written from Dr Monika Schneider’s experience as a junior doctor, I was reminded of the complexity of the human body and the fragility of life. It also reminds the reader of the difficulties and life-saving decisions that doctors face on a regular basis. This is an excellent read, written with compassion and humour, but one to venture into when feeling strong and well. I highly recommend it.

Stories relate, challenge and very interesting.
It's quite fascinating to learn about the various patients treated by this doctor. One amusing story involved mushrooms – definitely worth checking out. 😊 Having a mother who was a nurse allowed me to relate to some of the shared stories. It highlights the importance of doctors being patient and adept at de-escalating situations. The doctor's schedule, especially when they were the sole practitioner in the clinic, was intriguing. It's impressive how they managed to keep track of diverse issues for each client, often in short intervals. Some narratives were heartbreaking, especially those about elderly individuals who lacked companionship. It made me reflect on the importance of reaching out and caring for those who are alone. The stories also provided insight into the challenges doctors face, and I appreciated the use of medical terminology, which facilitated a great deal of learning. I also liked how other doctors occasionally collaborated for accurate diagnoses. This book is not only interesting but also a valuable source of learning, particularly for those considering a career in the medical field.

An authentic look at hospitals an family practice
The book consists of many different patient stories. The author always adds her thoughts and many medical explanations to the stories. I particularly liked the chapter about the patient who survives a heart attack and the woman that finally got the right diagnosis. The book is also easy to understand for non-medical professionals, but especially for those interested in medicine.
