DURATECH O2 Oxygen Sensor Socket 3/8" Drive x 7/8"(22mm), Oxygen Sensor Remover Tool Chrome-Vanadium Steel with Side Wire Gate, O2 Removal and Installation

Worked great on my 2009 Scion xB. I already had an O2 sensor socket, Hazet brand, top quality made in Germany, but the Hazet design is such that the connector won't pass through the hex socket opening, so that was a bust. That shows that options/alternatives are important, and that's what this DuraTech gives you, options. O2 sensor placement varies a lot and there are a lot of choices from this kit for how to go at it. Of the three socket styles, I ended up using the longer split socket and a 1/2" breaker bar. Broke loose with maybe 50 ft-lbs and then I was able to spin it out the rest of the way with my fingers. California car, never seen salt, so your mileage may vary. Same set up to torque in the new one and the car's back on the road. The thread chaser is an important plus in my view. You spent $100 on a new sensor, let's make sure it goes back in just the way the original came out. Easy to run that in with my fingers most of the way, then a stubby 3/8 ratchet handle to get past the built up carbon and smooth sailing from there. Ran the new one in with my fingers all the way down to the sealing washer, so very clean job. Definitely plenty strong enough, nice Phosphated finish, rub in a little oil for added corrosion resistance; accurate fit, overall very satisfactory quality, especially since it's a tool you'll use infrequently unless you work in a shop. I would definitely do it again and recommend and I recommend the kit rather than just the socket, for the alternative socket styles you won't know you need until you need it and for the thread-chaser which I consider a must-do step.

Between the 5 items that come in this 02 sensor socket set, you have all you need to remove your old O2 sensors. Made of coated, forged steel, this socket set is guaranteed to stand up to abuse and last a lifetime. The longer 3/8 drive socket and the 3/8 drive socket with the 90° wratchet attachment point are enough for any 02 sensor job. This socket set fits well too. No slop, no play. But the addition of the 1/2 drive 90° socket and the thread chasers are the icing on the cake. You add the molded case and you have the perfect 02 socket set! Easy to use, durable, and clearly labeled. If there is 02 sensor work in your future and you don't have this set, GET IT. It will make the job infinitely less painful and you will be happy you did! Especially since 02 sensors, because of the condition their threads are in, with the constant heat cycling between screaming hot and stone cold, are notoriously difficult to remove. You need a robust socket set to get the job done. This is it! Highly recommend!

Get set of tool, works great

Great set for changing O2 sensors! Needed both sockets to reach the sensors and both sides of the car. The straight socket worked on the driver's side and the offset 3/8" socket worked to get into the tighter spot on the passenger side. Would not have been able to get the sensors replaced without this!

I read the reviews after I ordered this item. Some complained that the wires woudn't fit or the socket was too short. After I received this item (I also received a new 02 sensor in the same shipment), I tried the socket on the new 02 sensor. Initially, I could not get it to fit. I went to AutoZone to see if they had an 02 socket. They did, but the also rent tool for free...I just had to put down $30 to cover the price of the 02 sensor set that I rented. I made sure that the AutoZone socket would fit my new 02 sensor and it did. When I got back home, I tried the 02 socket that I order from Amazon on the old 02 sensor in my car. It fit ! Unfortunately, I was not able to remove the old 02 sensor with a ratchet and went out and bought a Impact gun. The impact gun that I bought didn't have enough power to remove the so I used a three foot long cheater bar - and that took some effort. The 02 sensor gave with a loud crack ! I feared that I had broken the 02 sensor in the manifold ! But I was lucky and just a few more turns the 02 sensor came out. I found that with the Amazon product it was necessary to pinch the wiring harness near the top of the 02 sensor to fit it into the 02 socket. Then you have to bend the 02 sensor wiring harness 180 degrees to fit it into the 02 Sensor socket. I do not like the idea of making such an extreme bend of the wiring harness at the top of the 02 sensor. I have no check engine light and my scan tool is happy. So for $34 i was able to complete this job and hopefully save my catalytic convert....
