This turned out to be a surprisingly good deal. Price is super competitive and the accuracy (when used as directed) is spot-on. Everything is included here and I was up and running within a couple minutes of opening the box and cracking the manual. The included manual is in clear English, everything is clearly labeled, and I've not had any problems so far in limited testing. Sometimes Chinese shop tools are a roll of the dice but in this situation, everything worked out great.

I used this product under ten times in 6 months and it worked well but I attempted to use it again and it will not give a reading…definitely not worth the money. Perhaps if I used it a bunch in six months, but i only used it a handful of times.

This works with just any surface that has a 1" x 1" square for testing the desired hardness. The surface needs to be cleaned, but this seems more accurate when the surface is smooth and flat.

I sharpen knives as a hobby and use the tester to get a general idea of what kind of blade I'm dealing with. The blade under testing needs to have a flat surface, preferably parallel to the other side for testing. There is a learning curve associated with using the tester. I use the calibration block to support the blade under test. I will answer questions.
