Nice flavor for the lentils!
I really enjoyed these lentils! They have a very nice flavor to them. The dish I made with them was an Ethiopian dish cooked in a crockpot. For the first 4 hours it was just Lentils, barley and chicken stock. I felt like the lentils added a littel earthy flavor (in a very good way!). I think these would be great in so many dishes and salads because of the flavor. They were cooked for at least 8 hours (on low) and they still had nice texture and didn't get mushy at all. This type of lentil will really add a nice flavor and will be great in dishes where we see the lentil (not put through a blender). When I rinsed them I didnt find any bad ones or ones that needed to be removed. If you are looking for a lentil that will add a little more to the dish you are making I would definitely suggest this one.I liked they way they cooked and I liked to flavor and texture.

French Green Lentils
This review is for "Straight from France French Green Lentils 14.5 Oz"These French lentils were very clean straight from the bag. I washed them and the water stayed very clear with no debris. They cooked up nicely and the taste was classic peppery green lentil. I cooked them in a pot on the stove and had them as a side to barbecue ribs. These would also be great in soups for a delicious peppery kick. The price is comparable at $8.99 for 14 oz.

Smaller, but better flavor and texture than I expected. Great in stews
Most lentils I've bought have either been bland or are a pain to cook as they go from undercooked to mush in the most narrow of windows of time possible. These are described as having a peppery flavor and this was true. It held up well to strong seasoning. They're great in stews or ragout. Despite them being smaller than the lentils I normally use, they held up well, tender and cooked through, but they held their shape and didn't disintegrate into mush. They're a bit more expensive, but I think worth the expense if you can afford just for their superior texture and flavor.

Delicate and flavorful
I love lentils and these French lentils are really special. They are so delicately small, yet they hold up better than conventional green lentils. They stay firm and don’t get mushy easily. They pick up flavor from whatever spices you're using and also create a flavorful broth. Really loving these.

Very easy to cook and good flavor, but quite smaller than expected.
Very tasty! These french based lentils have a bit of a more peppery and slightly earthy flavor to them than what I'm used to, but nonetheless very good with some heavier seasoning. I rinsed and tossed these lentils in my slow cooker with a few salt jowls and seasoned once finished, so pretty easy to prepare. The lentils are noticeably tiny, though. I assumed for some reason that they'd get at least a little bigger, but they cooked up about the same size. So I yielded at least four cups tops after cooking the whole bag, so getting a few bags could be needed if making for a group of people.

Gotta love Lentils
I love lentils I add them to soups and stews and substitute them for meat to make healthier meatless meals for my family plus they taste good and are good for you. These lentils are fabulous and just like Champaign are better grown in France. These particular lentils have just a bit more peppery flavor and hold up better during cooking than the ones you get in a regular grocery store so go out of your way and the country to give your family the best lentils. The price is nice and i would definitely recommend this product.

Easy to prepare
These dried green lentils are boiled in a 1:3 ratio of lentils to water. They are boiled in water for 20-25 minutes. This did leave some extra liquid afterwards which I drained a tiny amount out and added a can of cream of mushroom to make creamy lentils. Added a few spices and this dish tasted great and was also very healthy being high in protein and low in carbohydrates. Very pleased with these lentils.

Tiny little lentils, but they cook up the same as regular size; but at too high a price
The media could not be loaded. Review of: Straight from France French Green Lentils 14.5 OzThe first (and main) thing I noticed about these Straight from France French Green Lentils was the size.Compared to the mass-produced, store-bought lentils that I usually get, these French Green Lentils are tiny. Just by looking at them I think they are perhaps ¼ to ½ (at most) the size of lentils I normally use. And, just looking at the lentils, I did have some concern on how they would stand up to cooking for 25 to 30 minutes or so.But, after cooking these lentils the way I normally cook up lentils, I found that the French Green lentils cooked up just fine. They actually take the same amount of time to cook as regular size lentils, which was a bit of a surprise as I expected they might take less time to cook due to their smaller size.At the same time, I was pleased to find that the ‘Straight from France’ lentils did not get mushy but still retained the classic lentil type of consistency (soft but with some ‘mouth feel present) that I enjoy. As for taste, I think they taste the same as regular lentils with a bit of an earthy-type taste or semi-meaty type of taste. The bottom line for me, after having these lentils over rice (with some extra veggies/sausage added for some flavor; as I normally cook lentils) and then having as a lentil soup the next day for lunch, is that I can’t say that I really taste that much of a difference in these French Green lentils vs other lentils. So, for me at least, the almost $9 price tag for a 14.5 ounce bag doesn’t really correspond to these lentils being so much higher in quality/taste than other, much less expensive, lentils I’ve tried hundreds of times over the years.Good lentils, but at a price point that I consider to be overly high.
