They simply snap shut. Getting them off might be more tricky. Ive just cut my fingernails and had a bit of a job flipping up the flaps so don't trim yours too short. They are a bit stiff to start but loosen up with use. I have LOADS of them and use them all the time. Have done for years. May I suggest you get a small cheap one to start with and see how you get on with opening the flaps. If its ok then you can get the others than you want. If not, then you haven’t wasted a huge amount of money. I have a chum who has appalling osteoarthritis in her fingers and she uses them all the time. I wanted smaller and had bought smaller ones before but they were too small. So I took a chance with these and they are the perfect size I was looking for. Big enough to put some fruit or salad in for night shift to keep me going. Fits nicely into my lunch bag with room for a drink. Very happy with the seal and the fastening tabs. I dropped one and it survived unscathed. Easy to clean. They stack up with the lids on. However they do not nest into each other for storage. It would have been nice if they had been shaped so they nest. So they take up a lot of room in the cupboard.
