Fits our 60 pound kid
This was the only NOCSAE kit that we could find to fit our 60 pound, 4'4" kid. It's sturdy and fairly comfortable. I still have to modify the straps a bit so that he can tighten them without help after he pulls it over his head, but that's easy enough. So much safer than what he had before. He's 9 and playing at a high level even though he's small and it was near impossible to find a kit that fit him.

Top Star chest protector is huge (size 9-12)
My 9 year old son is 4’6” tall and weighs about 84 pounds. The helmet and shin guards are fantastic and awesome quality. The chest protector (14.5”) is also very high quality, however it is huge and didn’t fit him well, even after tightening it. I even tried the Top Star series 7-9 size chest protector (13.5”) and that was also too big. The padding in the throat area would hit him in the neck as he was crouching, no matter what we tried. The clasps on the Top Star chest protector are good, but a bit tough for a younger player to get on and off without help.I ended up buying him an All-Star League Series size 7-9 chest protector which fit him better, and has a single clasp which is easier for him to get on and off by himself.I’m only taking a star off because the chest protector was so large. My son is not a small 9 year old, and it probably won’t fit him for at least another year. From a build quality point of view, this equipment is well worth the money.

Boys used it during season and it has held up well. Had a lot of use. Fit my 13 year old and fit a tall skinnyb16 year old. May span more than those also. Had a 12 year old who was a little larger also use it and it fit well.
