🔧 Power Your Innovations with Precision!
This package includes 10 pieces of the AMS1117-5.0 Step-Down Linear Voltage Regulator Module, designed to convert input voltages from 6V to 12V down to a stable 5V output, making it an essential component for various electronic projects.

30% faulure right out the gate. And, they don't fail safe (open) they fail in bypass!
I'm no novice when it comes to electronics. I've had a long career as an EE and linear regulators are as simple as it gets. In fact, I often choose the less-efficient linear devices over buck converters due to their simplicity and reliability. They also do not induce noise as the active buck converters do. Not these, though. . . failing left and right. The ones that aren't dead on arrival, work for a while then the output swings high and starts tracking input never to regulate to 5V, again. These devices are failing on low-current loads (max. 50mA) when they are rated at 1000mA when not dropping much voltage. (Linear regulators are more efficient when the input is close to the output since the power is a function of voltage and current. The more voltage dropped by the regulator, the more likely it is to get too hot and die the thermal death.) Not sure how they can rate the device at 1000mA and 12V input when that is a power drop of 7W! Clearly not going to happen with an SMD regulator. But, that is not my issue, just a warning to others.so, never mind that. . . 30% of these were failed on arrival and the are not failing open, they are failing by sending the input voltage to the output. Say bye-bye to your circuit! The output is not the full input voltage, but it does track the input voltage. When 11V is applied, a full 9.3V is sent to the load. Not good. And why are they failing? It doesn't get much easier than a linear monolithic device. I should have just built my own, but these were priced right and came with header pins.Save yourselves some headaches (now or down the road) and buy something more reliable even if it doesn't have the low voltage differential (input to output) this device has.

it works
Pins are soldered on the wrong side for my purpose. I mount the board into a socket and this places the regulator upside down.

Works great!
Does exactly what it says. My voltmeter reads 4.99V when powered with 9V battery.

1 DOA, 1 died later, 1 I broke, other 7 are working
Using in a 80-170mA current draw application. They get pretty hot so I'm soldering a copper flange to the regulator's tab to help with heat dissipation. I accidently reversed polarity on one and killed it. Still, these are very cheap and convenient... so I'm reluctantly ordering more.

Check output on every piece.
Some output at 7.94 v which fried my project. Half were 4.94v output. Ill buy again. I shouldve checked.
